At the last event it was fifty fifty girls and boys, pix up at www.thefixup.net. We're all about the music, strippers just add something extra. Trust me the atmosphere was live, no attitude, just pure party madness. If anyone wants access to the audio of the last event (sets from Plastician/Virus etc) then email thefixup@gmail.com

And if you don't believe me take a look at that big grin on Plastic's face:

Yup. More ammunition for the argument that dubstep and grime is 'boys music'.

yo yo yo
i was there. i'm a girl. it didnt feel that comfortable to me i gotta say. bouncer asked me if i was working! i said 'yeah i'm a music journalist'. he just kinda nodded like 'oh yeah' and then started saying how pretty i was. other guys who chatted to me lost interest once i said i was there cuz i wanted to do a virus feature. it wasnt as bad as it sometimes is but i still feel kinda angry, specially about the girls being made pure trophies. it wasnt quite 50/50, but i noticed most of the girls there wasnt wearing that much even if they wasnt working. internalising and ting get me? WASTE fo sure

on the other hand it was a wicked live performance and i felt like they put more of an effort in when they not from LDN. and big up the wotless boys for lookin out for me! and the shower caps. and the dude with the bo-peep hat.

If that's how you feel then it's all good. Everyone I spoke to said it was one of the best nights they've been to in Leeds, including girls. Bribkin, sorry to hear about the bouncer and that but thats bouncers innit? I just want to make it clear that we're not disrespecting girls in any way. All the girls that were working wanted to, most of them wanted to see Virus and Plastic as well. If you're not feeling it then like I said, its all good. Everyone else see you there.

None of this changes the fact that the line up is big and we're pushing this music in a town where not many other people are, support it for that if nothing else.

yeah definitely! like i say, gender issues aside it was buzzing performances and the vibe was pure LIVE. seemed like Leeds definitely needed some good music. and respect for all your work too.

and ha bouncers and many menz! hmmm i dunno i feel ambiguous about it all really. i wldnt feel i had to say nutin if there was vice versa with women making the music and playing in male strip clubs : D.

That's very true man, and big up all leeds crew... I wasn't at the last one as I went to transmission, but it did sound like a good night.

However, my opinion is still that the music should be able to stand on its own two feet without strippers as a marketing tool... having naked girls up on stage to the music is all well and good, but it's definitely going to put girls off getting into it and represent dubstep and grime in a bit of a weird way. Even if girls do go to these nights, it'll affect how they view the music.

u shouldn't have to be looked out for, this sounds just wrong. yeah i'm happy to support the fact yr pushing dubstep forward in leeds or wherever else, but like the man ben says, u don't need to use/treat human beings as wallpaper to do it, standard

its all fun guys and girls--these boys are making a mark and showing they have a sense of humour.not every guy is straight and not every girl is straight either who enjoy bass

think its an elegant idea
