on the way soon, just got the email today.............

" We are excited to announce a range of new products to be released
before the end of 2007: Ableton Live 7, several new add-on
instruments and Ableton Suite, a product that combines Live 7 with a
choice selection of instruments in one comprehensive, discounted
package.

enhanced audio engine improves fidelity with 64-bit mix summing

The new Compressor device integrates three compression models, one
of which is based on a feedback design commonly found in the most
praised vintage compressors

Time signature changes can be inserted in the Arrangement timeline
and tied to Session scenes.

The new "Drum Rack" streamlines beat production via an easy
drag-and-drop interface and brings endless creative possibilities.

* A familiar drum pad interface allows dragging and dropping of
samples, instruments and effects.

* Every pad can have its own Sampler, Simpler, Operator, or any other
virtual instrument or plug-in, and its own individual effects chain. "

looks good, some key updates (eg time sign changes) and some nice new toys (the drum rack)

hows it run?? anyone beta tested yet?

i haven't even updated to live 6 yet!!

Highlights for me include....

- Multiple automation lanes per track can be displayed and edited at
the same time. (About f*cking time :)

- Fully integrated side-chaining capability is available for the new
Compressor

I'm hopefully getting live 6 for christmas off several people, so should be getting a free upgrade to live 7. I know a lot of people didn't think there were enough significant upgrades in it, but i reckon if people are thinking of getting live they should do it now, free upgrade is a free upgrade.

'wish list' for 7:

mute/solo switch for channels improved

eraser tool

detatchable sequencer window

First 3 that came to mind, there's probably others. Really love ableton, but don't find sequencing in it enjoyable, still rewiring it to cubase at present, which is a bit of a pain. Love some of the instruments/fx though; Operator has to be one of the best 'integrated' synths available in any DAW.

Hope Santa gets my letter.

Don't get it. Improved how?

>eraser tool

Like the cubase one that only deletes the quantize area under the cursor? Yeah, that'd be sweet.

>detatchable sequencer window

Dual monitor support would do me. To have the sequencer in one screen and the line view / mixer in the other would be nice. If they did thos through a detatchable sequencer then whatever.

Really the only feature I'm holding out for is the support of more than one soundcard at a time.

Its a bit sus the way they have been saying for years that the summing engine was as prestine as anything out there, but now they fixed it :?

I never had any problems with the sound quality but I'll hold off sending off tracks until I get a listen to the 7 engine.

Live 7 also introduces native support for REX files :-P

It's great to see that Ableton keep adding great new features with each release, i fell in love with v4 & haven't looked back since :-)
