I spin dubstep in calgary... its hardly a scene but I'm working at getting people more and more into it.
As far as edmonton is concerned I know the gomp guys and the THC crew are digging it lately. I'm playing a show for halloween for the thc that should be fucking awesome!

The lighta crew in Van city completely represented at Shambhala this year, esp on the beach on sunday playing with skream.. that was the best set ever seriously!

Calgary in da house.. sort of.

For anyone in the area, I've personally done stuff off and on here in Calgary over the past 3 years, spinning dubstep/grime/dnb/breakcore etc. @ clubs like Sal's, @ Sambuca when Dj Proph & Cykosis were hosting their nite there, at SODA, promoting my own shows under TormentedSoundz, collaborating with the Resonance Productions boys - Kaspr, Cubed, and as a part of the Severed Digit Recordings crew. We've done breakcore, dnb, & related experimental electronix shows with names like Fanny & Sublight Records, Cake Builder from Winnipeg (Ad Noiseam, Dross:Tik), Dross:Tik Recs / Make:Shift Recordings mon Dj C64 from Toronto, and local prairie collective Severed Digit Recordings personel. Michael Red from Lighta! / Vancouver has even dropped by.. @ an sadly ill fated show last summer.

I've regularly featured dubstep @ all these events, and have dropped sets on CjSW as well, most notably alongside the mon dj Zajko for Sound Champion Showcase, including doing some promo for SLIT JOCKEY RECORDS awhile back, which recieved the most amount of phone calls that Zajko has ever recieved on his radioshow when we gave out promo copies of Slit Jockey mixes! It was crazy, heh.

Last show i personally promoted was back in March of this year, as part of a TormentedSoundz / Severed Digit Recordings gig @ Soda, with special guest Influenza. I like to promote live electronix, and sounds you dont' normally hear in clubs, hence the breakcore/experimental bend, Dubstep could be included in that as well, heavy downbeat, industrial, etc. That's my angle.

I'm always up for meeting new peeps, and dont' get out from the grind enough to do myself justice, so I could always be up for doing new stuff. Nothing wrong with getting my ass kicked back into action ha.

Big ups to those locally in Calgary who've been down from the beginning, not many peeps were repping the sound when i first moved back here not too long ago. And thanx to the venues/clubnites, dj's, producers, and residencies that I have worked with, showing an interest in the sounds.

Hopefully everyone will be down to come to the Lighta! show in December. These guys are making huge waves in the scene. I am making this happen with lots more to come real soon!!! So be on the lookout.

The night before PK Soundsystem is bringing in Phowa who is also part of the Lighta! crew so calgary heads have a bass filled weekend starting the Nov 31.
