I want to buy AKG MKII 240. Any thoughts about it? and what's the difference between AKG 240 and the AKG MKII 240 ?

owned two MK2s (sold one off eventually).
the headphones themselves, including, the drivers are identical b/w the mk1 and 2. only cosmetic difference is the paintjob. MK2s come with velour pads and a spare cable (the coiled one). if the additional accessories aren't important to you save your cash and just the mk1s.
the headphones themselves are decent for what they cost. sub-presence/weight is a little lacking imo - i think this is largely caused by a bump around 100hz that masks off things below it. mids are quite nice, there's a few treble spikes iirc (haven't used mine in a couple years now).
word of warning: both of mine eventually started getting hairline cracks (you can find other cases by googling for it - see:
http://www.head-fi.org/t/564340/hairlin ... -k240-mkii). they didn't seem to affect performance at all from what i can tell but they could quite easily end up being a problem a few years down the line. as far as i'm concerned this is a production fault but AKG don't care and won't acknowledge it i.e. it's not covered by warranty.

Love mine. They are pretty good for a hundred or less. I upgraded to 702s...way better
