I really rank my Alesis rack gear. 3630 compressor and Midiverb 3, both under £20 with a few distinctive sound.

im going to give the Korg Padkontrol a mention here. I got mine for 50 quid, but u can get them for even cheaper in cash converters or gumtree if ur lucky. amazing controller!

Ive got a different Joyo analog delay. Its ok. I use it. I much prefer the tone of my Rogue analog delay which you can get for a similar price. Check em out.

I certainly will . Im just looking for something to run snares and dub fx thru out of my audio interface. If u think he rogue sounds better can u explain the difference between the two? cheers bro

Just remembered...got my AirFX off ebay for cheap as well. Theremin style effects unit and sound generator.

I think the Rogue darkens the audio without making it dull. Its a tonal preference. Hard to describe. Again, I have a different Joyo analog delay than the one you linked to.

Ahhh fair enough! The joyo does sound slightly muffled imo

I'll report here about the Boss SP-202 and Korg ES-1 as soon as a receive mine : ) Both certainly limited by today's sampler standards, but both easily had for well under 200USD and lots of great music as been created on each box.

Sorry for the dumb and potentially off topic question, but I just wondered, with the delay you posted, do you need something to amplify the signal somewhere in the chain, or can you simply just run an output into it then straight back into your interface?

Cheap gear wise, I bought a couple of Patchblocks when they were on Kickstarter - great little toys and almost infinitely expandable! http://patchblocks.com/

I've also got a Monotron Duo which is great fun, if a little limited and impractical.

I used to own an ESX and currently have an ER1. So yes. But im a huge fan boy. :p

I've mostly got the ER-1 piggybacking off the 707 (and 727 ) to provide additional percussion noises.

For an all hardware setup one could make due with the ER-1 as your only percussion source, but you need at least two voices for a decent snare and I've not yet had much success doing anything but an 808 kick or something like a distorted Gabber kick (though I've not tried much for a 909 or anything else).

Ultimately my plan is to use the ES-1 for main percussion, sampling from my Nord Drum, ER-1 as back up...as soon as the new Electribe sampler starts shipping at a reasonable pace I'll be adding that as well...that a Nord Lead 2(x) and a Strymon Deco pedal are my end game for my hardware jam setup. Once I get these latest two low budget samplers I'm hoping to do a live/all hardware dubstep tune and jam video.

/OT back to budget gear...


@Elkie's question...you shouldn't need to boost a line level signal after it leaves the delay pedal...but you have to watch guitar pedals as many of them don't have a lot of headroom. Some sound good over-driven, some don't. You also have to watch the feedback knob with analog delays, most I've dealt with will just keep building repeats if you crank the feedback...which can make for some cool build up FXs...I also like to fiddle with the time knob on them as you get those great pitch shifting FX
