IMO: It's super important to have your tunes on YouTube.

...or any other way I can stream the intro/drop.
Just a tip for anyone selling music...
PLEASE have it streamable for me to hear the intro and drop + a little bit of the tune. Do not fear the pirate, but fear ME (the music buyer) being too lazy to buy a tune based on a store-clip that doesn't have the context of the intro. I really really need to hear shit full out, and sometimes if I'm not sure, I may just pass over it for now. I buy so many tunes that I don't have time to fart around wondering if I wanna buy your tune or not, I've got 100 other tunes to check....so please help us buyers out! I spend a lot of time picking tunes for certain gigs and its important I know what im getting myself into.
One.

Apart from the bizarre posting style, I kinda agree. Labels *should* have decent length clips (at least if not whole tunes) on their own managed soundcloud page. The problem isn't pirates, those people are ALWAYS going to steal the music, I think the trick is making your music as readily available to those who will buy your music. It's been shown in bare studies in both games and film industries that it's the availability of the product that most affects the piracy ratios. ie: music purchasers will pirate something that they can't buy through the accepted channels.
Equally, I dislike the entitlement of many supposed purchasers now. Just because the internet enables you to have everything, immediately, does not mean that it's a right to have everything delivered to your exact specifications. Dance music should have it exclusive moments in clubs and radio plays and some should only ever be experienced in those environments (ie: i am pro dubplate culture and some great tunes never coming out). but with material that is being released, I do think a lot of labels need to update their policies and online presence.

So you only want tunes that have mega EPIC intros/drops?
And if not they are shit?

nowhere did the op say that. he only implied his own pre-listening habits. and tbh mine don't vary greatly.
and even if that was his take on music - how would it be relevant to this discussion?

intros are important in dubstep, and so is the drop. not hearing it can alter your opinion on a tune.

Just wondering because I have never thought "boy this track is sick, but if it doesnt have a good intro/drop/whatever I'm not buying it".
Good tune is a good tune right, loads of stuff with terrible intros and whatnot

Isn't that the point the OP is making? Like you hear the intro of a Swindle tune and it sounds bloody amazing, but it has zero relation to the actual tune post drop. I'd be pissed if I bought some of them tunes having not heard what the actual tune is post intro.

That was the opposite of what I meant: what if a Swindle song had a terrible intro but was otherwise amazing?
I'd buy it

That's all good, personally I prefer to hear the whole song, the context, the story, the motivation of the tune. Intro included. Especially if I'm expected to drop some p on the release.

good discussion gents.
pete, in response to your comment "Equally, I dislike the entitlement of many supposed purchasers now. i hope you dont think thats what im saying because i totally agree.
and there are plenty of tunes NOT available to stream anywhere but the store, and thats cool too.
im just saying you wanna hear the intro/drop because thats the first thing that gets played in the mix....

480p video, comes with 128 kbps of audio. Not enough to be a good copy, but nice enough for the listener to form an onion about the music and potentially buy.
