i've heard grime Producer Danny C use this effect alot and it's usually on a lot of OT Crew stuff too (probly that he's produced):

- basically it sounds as if the first word of each new bar is stretched at a slope towards the start - almost as if it's a reverse of reverb?


like: "iiiiiiiiiiiiIIIIIIII I'll tell you this......"

how is this effect aheived would you say? if this is vague i'll post a clip

* might figure it out cos i'm just about to have pop at it - would like opinions though

Yo copy your vocals to another track and reverse them - add reverb and bounce it down.

Import the bounced down version and then reverse that then layer it under the original till you get the warping effect

Prodigy - Firestarter is another good example

Edit: doing it to drums and synths and evrything else can have some awesome results too

Reverse the audio, apply reverb, reverse it back again. Automate the reverb Mix setting if you want to only apply the effect to the first word in each verse, which will obviously be the last verse once you reverse it.

Yeah was thinking about Firestarter there as well. Weird thing is, on the instrumental mix (on Wipeout 2097, classic game right there, soundtrack even better) it's obviously got no vocals, but still got the reverse reverb bit where the vocals should come in. It's also on the live versions, and this kind of effect is impossible to achieve live, so I guess Liam's bounced the reversed verb onto it's own channel for further tweaking. Makes sense.
