Depends what you want it to do and how much you're willing to pay. I use a Remote LE25, i find it spot on, and thats about £100

here is what i use - http://www.musicfarm.org/input/test/t5-CME_UF6.html

i have used it about a year, and works well. 9 sliders, 8 knobs, 61 keys, aftertouch , metalcorpus etc...about 420 $. they offer some intresting stuff - www.cme-pro.com

49 keys-61,otherwise ur gonna be pressing buttons just to change a key note.
just get a m-audio one, cheap as chips and lots of knobs to assigns to channels etc.
£60-100

Frankly if you don't play piano and don't want to you don't need a 49-keys nor a big expensive keyboard.
Just get something with keys and possibly drum pads but I highly recommend to give the knobs job to the BCR2000.
Having 8 knobs for all the software is a pain in the ass.

also, try checking em out in person with specific regard to the width and weight of the keys

on a number of the smaller/cheaper kboards they have given you lots of keys in a small space hence thin keys (not good for chubby/clumsy fingers)

If you don't have a soundcard already, I'd recommend the Roland PCR-1 which has an Edirol card built in. It's excellent value for money and comes complete with knobs etc.

but...as i understand, cme has finished with UFx series, new product is UFx0 series keyboards, which are developed from UFx. these, i suppose, are much better. UFx officially does not support vista and there has been problems with xp drivers (mine's woks fine so far ). also check cme forum.
