Hello,

New on here so apologies if this is in the wrong place or anything.

Basically been getting into the more chill, jazzy stuff lately like the whole Chord Marauders group along with the likes of some of the Deep Medi camp. Was just wondering if anyone knew of any decent VSTs to get for the sorts of sounds used?

Thinking along the lines of the keys sounds in tracks like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCCLGMmJWU8

I imagine they're some sort of rhodes, and similar ones can be heard in a lot of the Chord Marauders stuff being released, but I can't seem to get my hands on anything similar. Any help?

There are expand for Kontakt with rhodes sounds. But tose kind of rhodes came from hardware like Korg Kronos I think.

Alright, well considering I make that jazzy vibe, and I talk to Trashbat, B9, Jafu, Freud, etc. on a regular basis I can give you the rundown on how we make this sound. There are 2 main methods that we use to get this sound.

For artists like Geode, and Cal (Trashbat), they use several different piano sounds to accomplish this sound. A VST I have found that recreates this is Lounge Lizard, but really any VST with Electronic Pianos will work (Logic has some good e-piano presets). Geode tends to make more of a Jazzy, Deep House style. So stabs and short melodies are the way to go.

For artists like myself, B9, and Freud, we use sampling to accomplish this sound. Our sound is a bit more jazzy, and less garagey. Sampling jazz piano riffs, or any real piano riff in general will accomplish this sound.

Simplicity is key to our scene. If you listen to Geode - Embrace, you can hear that the melody is carried throughout the track, but drum variation, vocal one shots, automations in tremelo add variation. When I first started this sound I had no idea where to start. I eventually found my own style and stick with it; but, I hope this helped a little bit.
