Recording onto Mac ?

Does anyone know whats the best (free) program to record from mixer straight onto my hard drive?

wiretap is pretty good. i have a free copy that recs aiff's to the HD, but the full program will dump out an mp3. looking for a copy though...

I get decent results from Garage Band. Set the tempo to 40bpm to maximise the record time (though it's still limited to something like 999 bars), turn the metronome off... But having done that you just add a new track and press 'record', then you can export an AIFF to iTunes for conversion to mp3, burn CD.... etc

Still, I'd rather get something like Soundforge...

im using that at the mo if u r using an older version of os(os9x) snd sampler should do the trick

lol, and now i mainly use my pc, Mac is 4 the r&b and other stuff i do.

but makin to much dub these days, dont get round to switchin the g5 on.

i have a great not free program called audio hijack;
can record live or from itunes, safari, real, etc.
they may have a demo u can checkout.
great product.

Audio Recorder is some tight freeware that we use on Turntablaze Radio. You can record while streaming from another program without maxing out your ram. Otherwise we use Protools. :D

i use Sound Studio...

get involved...it's pretty sick...got everything you need, just download free trial

then download SerialSeeker (should find digits you need in this)

as above... Sound Studio would do it...

heard about audio hijack too, but not tried it...

Never considered garage band tho... nice tip :)

if you've got tiger 10.4.6, and you have a quicktime pro key, you can record as an aiff straight to your hardrive through quicktime. you'll have to have an audio in port. some mac's (imacs and ibooks) don't have a audio in.
