true. it is very good. im just going to have to improve my mixing skills, or maybe get a third deck. 1 min mix in, 1 min hurried shockout, 1 mins mix out.
Also have you guys read the Boomkat review? Say Theif "may be edging close to over-familiar territory". They need to get someone more enthusiastic selling their Dubstep.
He/she also say of Hijak's - Wake Up "is a more standard affair, but the bassline is incredibly heavy and the production is minimal enough to keep your interest however jaded you might have become with this kind of thing."
What is he talking about?! I've waiting for this tune for ages, any jading (?) must have happened since. This guy must think this tune was made yesterday. They seriously need to get someone new.

boomkat have always been a bit cagey about pushing dubstep, someone in there is not really feeling it.
but to be fair they do big up a fair few releases, just every so often they get it wrong

maybe they think that a good majority of dubstep, like a good majority of all genre's, is shit?
it could be they only like the good tunes? good is relative, of course.

Good IS relative, agreed. But these tunes shouldn't be in question. I'm sure they're on most steppers most eagerly anticipated list, no?

They are, they've all been big tunes in the scene for a year or two, but not everyone (obviously including a few of the Boomkat staff) will know that.
They're only reviewing them as 'new releases'.
Hijak, Skream and Digital Mystikz are already on another level with their productions now so I don't think it's a slap to say these sound familiar. It's only because they've been imitated so much over the last year.

This is an oxymoron surely? I think boomkat are pretty fair in their releases, especially when the stuff they put out on their own label (Modern Love) are generally outstanding.

From the Boomkat Boxcutter LP review :
"To our mind Boxcutter has always worked at the more interesting end of dubstep, on the one hand we have the nu-rave jump up rubbish that seems be delivered each week in inexhaustible amounts, while on the other hand we have a handful of acts that seem to thrive on confounding expectations rather than fitting into a mould"
Yet I cant remember ever seeing a scathing review of any dubstep release on Boomkat.

I have noticed a slight increase in critical comments from boomkat on some of their dubstep releases.
Im certainly not gonna make my purchase decision on anything else other than the audio clip.
One thing you have to give them credit for is the fact that their clips are loud and crisp.
At the end of the day they are going to want to sell everything that's given to them - so they are not going to want to be dismissive of any of the records they push.

Yeah, you won't find much negativity on Boomkat. After all... they're trying to get you to buy it.

You would think being a (respected) retailer, they'd keep their reviews on the impartial side of things,, IMO...That approach would be more inviting and well professional even. Tho, they dont .....soo real its a matter of
one man/women's opinion. So,, just gotta hit up what yer feelling...
(& btwLOMATT, no ones opinion is EVER wrong,, )
