sorry to tell you, but the problem isn't really EQ so much (though I hear volumeshaper is pretty good). you have a good song, but the general mixdown kills it though (in my opinion)

Really like the idea behind the track, but indeed it's the mixdown that makes it less appealing. I think once this song's properly mixed, it'll be real hard!

By the way, the book is called Mixing Audio: Concepts, Practices and Tools by Roey Izhaki.
