Hey guys,
what do you think of my free ep, especially of the track "Anthrax" i just released on soundcloud?
the most tracks on this ep are more in this "riddim" like direction which is kinda nice but not my passion i guess, but tracks like 42ohm or anthrax are darker and what i think my style is.

gimme feedback and take a look!
Soundcloud
Thank ya

just sounds like the same bass patch and drum beat repeated for 5mins
no variation
tune couldve finished at 2m20
second half adds nothing new

I love that weird phase modulation and that Left Right balance distribution

I think you really have something here man, you probably already know that it needs some more variation but I like the way its going. Also for the drums try getting Volume Shaper 4

It is amazing for side chaining drums

Keep up the good work brother and I can't wait to hear the full EP

Good ideas, good sounds, but yeah needs some variety. I would actually say progression, changing it up as you go along to make it something, different/warped/whatever

Yeah, needs more variation. Also, drums need to hit and hats need to be crisper and groove more, especially on a track like this. Have you tried heavy limiting or transient shaping for the drums? Side chained compression could help too, but the limiter would be better. That said, good ideas for the track! xD innovative. Also, an arp or synth or higher sound could help?
Awesome college book as a pdf I found on mixing (sharing is caring xD)

yeah i think you were right, does anyone have good tips how to bring wonk and groove into drums and the bass line?
actually i know the key is NOT to quantize the drums but everytime i try this it just sounds lame or same

keep the kick on grid
then record in the other percussion and bassline by playing them in on keyboard
youll get the natural velocity and placement of the notes to make them more human sounding

you shouldnt have to purchase anything to necessarily do that
most daws allow the keyboard itself to be used as a piano
so that will give you the timing
you can then adjust the velocity manually
recording in several takes of notes like this i find to be far quicker and more productive than using the grid
