I know I'm a few years late to the party, but I'm just now discovering "witch-house" tracks that I really enjoy. I've tried finding some legit spots on the magical land of the internet to discuss it and swap tunes etc; the only semi-lucretive site being "witch-house.com". I believe their registration has been disabled, however, and it seems that forum is completely dead regardless(there have been like 3 posts total since December 2014).
Anyone know any noteworthy boards of like-minded individuals that are fairly active? If not, would anyone be down to start up a thread for it? (Not sure if this is the proper forum for it, but it has "house" in the name!). A quick search for "witch house" on the forum hasn't uncovered any such thread.
I'd love to find new tracks in the genre, and even some crossover stuff. My taste in it leans mostly toward the melodic side, with the ultra-weird stuff just confusing me in most cases.
...I'm bringin' it back! From the ashes...

IMO it was always a lot more ambiguous and a sort of arbitrary after-the-fact thing than many realize. The genre itself started as a joke name (one among many) and there were few musical or sonic elements that the bands which were supposed to be part of this thing really had in common. Chopped and screwed shoegazy gothy characterizations were as close as anybody could get, and even those things couldn't describe all the bands lumped under the tag (Balam Acab sounds very unlike Salem sounds very unlike Suspiria Mater Vision sounds very unlike Silver Strain...) It was always kind of a deliberately vague aesthetic that anyone could reinterpret their own way - and that's cool. It was just a little too scattered to gel into a real, momentum-owning scene. I also don't think we've heard the last of it, although a name change might (should) be in order to allow room to differentiate and refine.
Plus; the typography experiment was fun and interesting, but ultimately beside the point and even a little distracting after a while.

I'd absolutely love a resurgence regardless of what name it arrives under; trying to evolve the sound myself as well to play a part in that.
To me, the sound of the genre really comes into focus with shit like Blvck Ceiling. Very loud and spacey... ugly synths mixed with melodic melodies etc.. a bit like an electronic form of doom metal and some black metal.
Would love to find more people trying to push the envelope with the established base, right now I mostly find copy-cats etc.

Some people overhere are alvvays such a dicks ! Music is timeless peeps.
And vvho cares that topic starter just discovered it, like you all knovv all the music outthere looooooool
And last but not least VVitch - House can be really cool. Still love for example Balam Acab - See Birds very very much !
There was all the salem/ fostercare ///> ∆ ∆ ∆ ∆+++ stuff which was good for a bit, kind of like cabaret voltaire crossed with shoegaze and self harm but I stopped keeping up with what was going on.
I still play this regularly though- it helped me find the way to a lot more eighties synth stuff too
But then on the other side there was the more progressive / rnb influenced stuff like Holy Other, htdw, Ayshay and ofc Balam Acab. My fave though is definitely Burnout eyess which is probably in my top 10 tunes of all time:
From what I can tell there's still some great stuff being made which while it isn't withc house as such, but has a similar vibe- like this, this and this
I would even argue Dean Blunt's album fits with this stuff but idk- it's good anyway.
