That's one of the shittest write ups for a record I've ever read in my entire life. In any genre.
Seriously, it's completely spastic. Even for Boomkat - and that's really saying something.

Another biggup for the Residents - Ralph records, Yello, & Residents Tuxedo Moon where my first music influences.
Don't know what the boomkat reviewer was thinking about. Monsoon is a million miles from the cheese.
Why does Boomkat get Tempa releases before Black Market? Maybe Boomkat sells more records, but Youngsta at BM understands what Monsoon is about...

i reckon its good that they feel they're able to exercise a bit of criticism over the stuff they carry- time was (going back quite a few years here)when everything they sold was described by them as utterly essential to sustaining human life and i simply stopped folowing their recommendations/believeing a word they said.
just so happens they're really wide of the mark on this occasion and wrote a load of gobshite.

I dunno, i dont agree with what he says, but he does clearly state "personally"... it's just an opinion. It is a shame about the ladies comments though, but its just daft fun at the end of the day. Generally I find the boomkat write-ups to be evocative and interesting...makes shopping there a more interesting experience. Obviously it aint gospel, that goes without saying, ill decide what i think of a records on its merits by myself but im glad that the write-ups exist and im glad that whoever wrote it isnt scared to state an opinion, whatever it may be

It's not his opinion that pisses me off. More that it's badly written, and slightly offensive!
"I know they put the melodies in there for the ladies..."
Bollocks.
Julian - they still do that most of the time. Generally if they say a record isn't an essential purchase, they actually think it's crap.

Its both bollocks and mildly offensive, but those things for me are mildly interesting, at the very very most mildly irritating, but surely nothing to be enraged by. I dont think its badly written, its hardly great literature but i dont think its meant to be, its just a little bit of entertainment. Additionally, given the vast number of write-ups they do, and the massive breadth of music they cover, i give them a bit of slack. As i said, id rather read that than there be nothing there at all, it just makes it interesting. What makes you say that its so badly written?

Pretty accurate write up i think.

i just get a bit annoyed by their writing all the time, they all sound like failed wannabe nathan barleys or aardcore casualties and overstuff their writeups with needless amounts of not-quite-right slang. Its kind of sad too that as a business they think that they need to write these bullshit paragraphs that are almost like quasi-reviews. ultimately, theyre not critics theyre vendors and so they should get on with that

wot melodies for the laydees?
as far as im concerned....dubstep is for everyone....and im sure the laydees love dubstep no matter what melodies are bein played.....who's to say that the girls are feelin the bass more than the melodies or vice versa?

that's not fair i don't think. i reckon its possible to detect at least four or five different reviewers styles/voices on there, some of whom are extremely articulate and humourous. this monsoon review doesn't really fall into either of those categories.
like my man says though, at the end of the day its hardly something to get twisted up inside about- personally i'm only giving it airtime cos i'm bored shitless at work.

pure bile ventilation!
shall we email them these comments to let them know what we think? they need taking down a peg or two!!!

xwrb!
that reviewer is an inarticlulate stink bridge and probably a really bad aaardcore casualty.
i just hoped tempa don't get royally skullfucked by Warner for using The residents image, i hear they are tight on that kinda of thing.
but yeah, at the end of the day...... dfifofc!
