Couple labels have said that due to all the stuff being pressed for RSD a lot of their releases/represses are being pushed back quite a bit.. couple months in some cases. Can see if from their point of view but it does happen on a yearly basis, can't be that hard to just prepare for it.

First time I won't be in Manchester for RSD so gunna look out for anything happening in London.. if anyone has any suggestions or decent shops to go to on that day I'm all ears!

Repress of this last year:

:P: :P: :P:

it certainly was.

on my list:
ESG - The Moody EP,
Jah Wobble 10",
Khruangbin "History of Flight",
maybe the Oneohtrix bit,
and i'll take the reggae releases as I hear them, there are lots to hear.

not so many dance records this time around eh? or have they ALL been pushed back by pressing delays?

the release list is painfully weak. looks like a load of reissues that you could basically go down the charity shop and pick up for a quid.

yeah i find that with RSD a lot, and it usually fucks any record labels putting out anything in the next 3 months.

Reissues are the lion's share of today's vinyl sales. No surprises there.

gonna check out that butterz release from flava d, royal t and dj q. also the spaceape record on hyperdub.
not gonna bother going to any shops though. last year everything was available online and i don't have any money for digging anyways.

did you think this through? prepare in what way? why do they have to prepare not the labels who release on rsd and just drop more cash to get priority,,, do they have to sign/demand things after record store day from now on to not getdelays? don't the record makers instead of labels need to prepare? dunno easy thing to say that it can't be hard

Yeah for small labels I guess its unavoidable and its more up to the producers getting music to the labels well in advance but for those labels with money and music available its just simple common sense to plan around RSD. Its the same day year in, year out.. any other business would plan ahead, people don't run ice cream vans during December for obvious reasons.

Some have moaned about delays from represses.. a repress can be put into operation at any time, if you're gunna do it and choose to put it into motion around the time pressing plants are getting all the RSD you can hardly moan about delays.

Just from a business stand point I don't see how RSD can be that much of a major issue. Fair enough, some labels don't have the money or storage to press up a number of releases and periodically release them over the "slow period" but if you do its hardly rocket science to work around it.

you're basically repeating what you've already said with the addition of the last sentence,, appearantly it must be rocket science since they still haven't figured it out

nice icecream analogy definitly the same thing

no worries I'm not down or anything, just wondering what you're thinking and why you keep blaming labels who already had things ordered etc

I'm not blaming labels I'm just saying I think its probably the case that its a small inconvenience. An inconvenience, so people will moan about it.. but a small enough one that they don't really wanna go to the effort of avoiding it. A couple weeks delay isn't really a major problem but if it is, imo, its not really a complicated problem to work around in future considering RSD occurs the same time every year.

Anyway, has there been a full list of stuff thats gunna get released yet?
