Mac Users

Seems like a lot of folks hereabouts are the "hacked reason/cubase, soundforge, and have loads of free plugs" types. So my question is how many here are mac users? Logic? If you're in the clique, I'd appreciate some recommendations on synth and fx plugs, especially free ones. I'm a little miffed that logic 8 is so cheap, so i feel the need to "aquire" some plugs and synths so I don't feel so bad about paying for 7 last year......

Yep, logic here, theres plenty freeware if you google it, if not....
CA5000 is weird and cool, atmospherics aplenty, and theres loads of free max/msp patches that work on the free runtime....

i'm using L8, and although theres a couple of nice plugs i miss since moving up to intel (Da Hornet, Zoyd) theres stacks of them out there that r worth using. cant think of many of the top of my head (tho crystal is always good), and wading thru KVR's lists can b a bit depressing when u realise that 99percent r made just for PC, but its well wrth spending a whole day searching/downloading/installing everything.

tho i got2 say the synths in Logic r pretty fuckin nice, but it makes sense to use others so as not to have too obviously a 'logic sound' 2 everything u do.

i'm skint, so sometimes i use demos of synths too. they usually cut out every minute or so, or emit an irritating noise, but i usually manage to work round it by bouncing out these parts between the noise/gap and using them as audio from then on

Macs only take AU so unless you got a 'wrapper' to take Mac VSTs then just keeping scouting free Audio Units.

Got something called SupaTrigga, cool for messing up beats, but its randomized so its best to bounce down different version and slice em up.
Crazy Ivan sounds like a chainsaw, all the others are pretty standard but kool

Its more glitchy sounding stuff but still interesting.

I've been using GarageBand a bit, just to have a play, it's not so bad. Moved onto Live Lite now though.

I learnt on garageband. It teaches you the basics, no doubt about it. It made what I'd always assumed was incredibly complicated seem incredibly easy and gave me the confidence to go deeper.

nice 1. good lookin out folks! already have crystal, i like, but i want a better interface, like massive. I'ma fan of the logic synths too, just bored with em, want new sounds and routing options. getting massive, but i want more fx plugs, delay, verb, bitcrushing, distortion. anyone know if they make trash for mac?

Now using Mac Pro and Pro 7.

I've always loved the bundled plugs. I'm interested to know, though, how the Logic EQ plugs compare to other third party offerings? Or any of the plugs for that matter. I have a few other effects units like distortion, fuzz, delays, reverbs but have never experimented with other EQs.

logics channel EQ is pretty sick, has a analyzer button so you can see all the frequencies being heard.

Where can i get a wrapper to use VSTs in logic?

i've been using logic 8 now for a couple of months moving from cubase sx2 on pc. I really like it but didn't like the synths much to start with so i managed to get the NI Komplete package and am pleased with it. Massive especially is very good for basslines etc i recommend it

why are logic 8 default settings on the synths so shit?

they try to force you to make pansy music.

the one on logic 7 are alot more neutral
