You probably won't have much luck making it that clear, mobile quality is shit.

that's pretty crappy, buy a microphone

i dunno, maybe you can get an interesting sound using them and processing them, but good luck with that.

From the Hyperdub Burial interview....
I can't get a singer or some session musician to come in and play or sing some dry song, so I've got to get people singing acapellas or just mates singing in their phones and re-cut up what they're saying.

You can get pretty good results if you isolate the noise frequency and apply a narrow cut. Also region the sample to remove the silent parts and apply fades after the words to reduce background noise.

I managed to piece a vocal together that was recorded on an mp3 recorder with the original tune playing in the background and it ended up sounding pretty good - check Hit List on my virb page.

if that's true you did really well - it's a wicked tune and the vocal sounds pretty crisp to me

Yeah, is true (along with the fact that I managed to delete the entire thing by doing some pc "tidying")

Well still got the original wav of the tune, and it sounded pretty much done to me, so at least it does stop me from having yet another tune to have to go back and tinker with endlessly

isolate the ambient sound as a solo sample, tweak it with filter/subtractive eq/etc until it sounds passable as atmosphere, use it throughout your tune so when your vocal comes in the fucked off ambience sounds like it's supposed to be there.
