quality of vinyl

recently ive bought loads of vinyl which has been really bad quality like ticks or loud crackling and i know its standard to expect a little bit of crackling from vinyl. its just that poor sound quality really grates on me and i find it ruins a tune.

most of the record shops ive dealt with have been really good about sorting me out replacements and ive even had some replacements direct from the record company/distibutor which is a real last resort.
i think that if im spending 6 quid on a record rather than buying the mp3 its fair that i want it to sound good.

am i being pedantic or have i got a point? and why do these issues occur? surely someone has a listen to the records before they hit the shelves.

maybe in an attempt to bring manufacturing costs down to a minimum ppl are getting their records pressed as cheaply as possible,in some eastern european plants that wouldn't be as concerned about overall quality?

loads i've bought recently either have hiss, crackle or distortion.
all of these...

burial lp
coki - madhead
pinch 12" on tectonic
the bug - poison dart
skreamizm 4

Problem is most of the press has the same noise so a replacement ain't really much help!

been buying vinyl for 10 years now and you cant front on the warmth of sound you get from wax and ive grown to love the occasional snap and pop, but not when it affects the quality of the tune :(
