Saw a separate Hip Hop thread and it made me think about which guys I'm listening to at the mo: Flying Lotus being the King right now. I can link up some bad boy mixes later.

Anyone put forth some good, innovative instrumental producers and mixes?

all the ones mentioned above plus:

Wax Tailor ( http://www.myspace.com/waxtailor )

Danny Breaks ( http://www.myspace.com/dannybreaks / http://www.junodownload.com/artists/Danny+Breaks )

DJ Cam ( http://www.myspace.com/djcamrecall )

DJ Parker ( http://myspace.com/djparker ) - a bit more eclectic stuff with vocalists - funk, neo soul, trip-hop, breaks, etc. (he's just going to release his debut album in spring 2008 but I think he's gonna be big. badman dj as well, check the Huw intro and live clip)

Some of the instrumental stuff off Dub Come Save Me by Roots Manuva is wicked, Aim is pretty good too. Would love to get into instrumental hip hop more, really want to start making it too, but don't really know enough about it.

And FlyLo is obviously some kind of god

Always looking for good instrumentals! Are you talking on vinyl or digital releases? I'm searching for vinyl but if they ain't on wax then digital is cool. You got a list?

Thanks for the tips guys, I have most of the recommendations already but there is a couple I definitely need to check; Wax Tailor, Riow Arai, DJ Parker, Dr Who Dat?, Kaman Leung sounding nice...

In addition if anyone wants to check some live Hip Hop production with most of the tracks released as instrumentals check DJ Mitsu The Beats / Grooveman Spot / DJ Mu-R for some bad boy Japanese beats...

speaking of Japanese we forgot to mention DJ Krush

also not mentioned MF Doom, Pete Rock, Cut Chemist, The Herbaliser, Blockhead, Kid Koala, DJ Food and much of late 90's Ninja Tune stuff is lovely as well

anyone knows which producer did the Roots Manuva's albums? or did he produce himself? most of his tracks have brilliant instrumentals

He produces himself to my knowledge, uses the alias Lord Gosh a lot. Ha, i don't mind his music, but i just remembered what Burial said about The Herbaliser, harsh things.

DJ Embee of Lootroop put out a really nice instrumental EP a few year back

'Embeetious Art' EP

Would definitely recommend Harmonic 33 also (Dave Brinkworth & Mark Pritchard)

Not sure whether you can still pick up their early releases on vinyl

But should be able to cop their CD 'Extraordinary People' (Alphabet Zoo) without any problem

Fat Jon is another name to check for if you are after instrumental Hip Hop

Also DJ Spinna put a series of Instrumental Eps 'Compositions'. Think they are 3 of 'em

Jazzy Jeff 'The Magnificent' instrumentals is real nice also
