I love mixing without headphones, of course it's not as tight but when you have vinyls and hear the hats or whatever from there and using that for reference it's fun!

Likewise, 2 months later "Your headphones are still in repair", I should have taken them back and bought the same ones, would have been so much cheaper.

I never DJd on a loud system without headphones, but at home it's fun!

def. its made my mixing better too. i like to go for quick mixes and no headphones helps cos you CAN'T spend 3 mins cueing.

he was using serato as well which allows you to see waveforms of the tunes as you are cueing them up and playing them... so he wasn't completely out in the dark.

v good mixing practice, teaches you to rely on the monitors, not your cue mix. obv watching the waves on serato is a cheat.

Yep thats the 1, i do this often, i have even put my ear so close to the record/needle that its kncked the needle haha, sept you cant have your master vol to high or you wont be able to hear the hats and shit

i did this once at a house party but only because the set up was ghetto like that. someone left the headphone jack dangling outside their car trunk and the plug was fuuuuuukkkkked

i think it was good practice though! someone told me, the worse your setup is, the better it goes when you actually have a nice one, and it's true!

I done this on my first Pirate set... Fucking joker! Just had to cue up, kill the bass and mid and pitch chase sehr quickly.

Also played at a house party (granted there was only about 13 people in the room) with no headphones... whats worse was it was dnb, they weren't my records and i was fucked on ketamine. Needless to say i fucking smacked it.

beat matching is overrated anyway. i'd rather be a good selector than a good beatmixer. both is preferable but selection is key! authentic reggae selectors manage with one deck and a laser noise.

:y: vs :C:

learning to swim with weights on.

serato can go outside of vinyl emulation. you can bpm, hot-cue, mix and sound like a DON on ONE TABLE. You can drop the needle anywhere on the record and it is cued up and beat matched before you even let it go. Its cheating.. not DJ'ing.

Its understandable if you are out of options and just want to rock.. but if this is how you spin standard, get the fuck out with that.

ive never been able to afford decks, so ive taught myself to DJ on traktor with no phones! just learning to cue stuff up from memory and improvise a lot!

Im not brilliant, but ive done a little mix just for my mates really, try it out here, i wonder what people who know what they are doing have to think about it!

it will be uploaded in 20 mins.

I do this a lot while talking on the phone with my girlfriend...
"just got some music playing in the background... I'm paying attention"

standard.
