Prob with ReMOTE 25SL drum pads...

ey guys

Just got my hands on the awesome 25SL compact and it's working beautifully, except for the drum pads. The main problem is when I start to record something in Reason, all 8 pads play a long note from the moment the recording starts, sending out 8 note lines that keep stretching out until I stop recording to delete the mess. I can hit new notes over the top but they'll keep playing until I stop recording too. Worried it might be a technical problem with the keyboard, as it's like all the pads are making a connection when they shouldn't be. Sometimes the problem isn't there when I first hit record, but as soon as I start hitting the pads the notes start dragging out again. Anyone seen this before? Should I be gettin on the phone to novation for a replacement?

Also, does anyone know if you can change the sensitivity of the pads? They take a good hard two-fingered whack to get a sound with reliably high velocity, which is making drumming out complex beats harder than it really needs to be.

cheers

Do you mean like a constant sustain?
I have the Remote 37SL (really good keyboard), and the drum pads on it as you say aren't that sensitive at all.

I think the problem you're describing isn't a technical one, as mine does the same although there probably is some way around. When you load it in Redrum it works perfect. I reckon that's down to the fact that it's a sample being used so it has a definate start and finish, however when you use it in say the subtractor or malstrom it just sustains it for as long as you record/play. I put that down to it being a synthesised sound.
Sorry I don't know any ways around it, but you're not the only one experiencing it!

That's the problem, though... It's dragging out the note in redrum. It isn't the sustain as the sound itself drops away as you'd expect, but I'm left with long note marks all over my pattern sequencer as if I'd held down the note until I stopped recording.

i think reason has a little LED indicator of when it receives MIDI messages yea? well it should blink when when you hit the key/pad as well as when you release it...

Iv'e got the remote zero and if you read the .pdf manual there's a way to change the velocity response of the drum pads - can't remember off hand but you can

As for your other problem i don't use reason so I can't help you there. Works fine with cubase.
