Couple of happy hardcore DJ's down my local club had this to say about Dubstep....
KP
"maybe you could play some dubstep and we could fall asleep to the 2nd tune that sounds like the 1 after and the 1 before and the 1 half way through the set and the 1 at the end and ..... what am i on about... they all sound the same. if only the tunes actually went somewhere."
Mayhem
"*applauds*"
this seemed pretty ignorent to me, so I 'schooled them' (lol) with this post...
"Why don't you boys put your money where your mouth is.
I bet the next 3 tunes, which are all played in PLENTY of the same sets are 10x more diverse than any hardcore / trance / hardstyle / kick drum genre you boys can butter up.

cheer up boys, you've still got the memories of the good old days when a catchy synth lead and 180 kick drum were original..."
Have a feeling I'm still going to be the one ending up looking like a tnuc. Gotta protect your own though and all that etc etc
Should I just leave the defense of the Dubstep and let people mock it, or should I fight the corner?
Internets = serious business.

Well... no one.
Why have a forum if not for discussion?

I've been laughing at happy hardcore for the best part of 15 years now, so have most folks I know. For some reason it seems to be right popular amongst the neds in scotland. We even get tv ads for "AFF YER NUT VOL8'' mix cds and such. So I can quite easily let them have a wee chuckle.

the point is that it's not a competition mate, who cares if someone doesn't like music X or music Y?
Concentrate on the positives, ignore the negatives, everyone's happy.

I'm shocked Happy is still going, let alone anybody who listens to it is daring to express an opinion on any other kind of music. Sheesh.
Happy is the original clownstep and even back in '93 it was only of interest to big eared boys on farms. Funny to think this crap was played alongside early Jungle.
A passing fad that failed to pass? I'm bum swizzled.

That is true. This is why, like animals, these people must be tamed or destroyed!
I jest of course, if I was into happy hardcore I wouldnt go near dubstep with a barge pole sized glow stick.

Big up them lot, I would call their music shit and send some shots back, but I'm not afraid to admit that I'm almost totally ignorant of their music.

^ don't worry, it is definitely definitely shit ^
I was into happy hardcore for a brief period when I was about 12. Sort of like some people are into Telly Tubbies until they're about 4.
The thing to worry about is when happy hardcore heads ARE into dubstep
