i know some of you lot must own vechiles and in effect have sub woofers in the whip.
I'm looking to purchase a pair to the very near future perhaps this week.
Anyone got any advice what kinda shit to go for, with about a 200 pound bugdet.?
Are pioneers the ONE?
12s or two 10"s ?
Buy amp and sub seperately or deal with one of them packages?
How much does it cost to hook up?
i'm prob gonna look to get this 1200w pioneer sub with 1000w crunch amp...
http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/produc ... /1234.html
But also thinking to maybe get a sony package to match my other sony xplod stuff, anyone got or had a sony sub before?

I've seen this outside FWD a few times..
Think it's Tha Illsta's gangsta mobile. The sub in the back is the size of a coke can, recommended.

I had one big 12 in my car, but my mate has the whole sony xplode package and I woudl say the sound form the two 10's were much better. Clearer and punchier than one big twelve...
As for hooking it up, its not that hard to do yourself (depends what car you got i suppose) if you've got some older model motor.
Your headunit is THE MOST important bit, without a decent headunit you wont get the most out of your system.

I had two MTX 12's in mine, but some bastards stole the box from my trunk (along with a brand new skateboard they must've used to wheel the box away) before I could experience dubstep on them... it was a few years ago.
Then my car was stolen, so I never got around to replacing them. Soon come though.
I would go with two 10's if I were to do it again, just for space reasons. It took up most of my trunk.

yea man, another important factor, forgot about that, although even with two tens your bootspace is going to be heavily restricted..

well yeah bootspace is quite important to me,
i could check this But surely two 10s take up more space then one 12?

Aye man, his system was very good, really clear sound and it did look pretty good with all matching equipment, but like i said man, as long as your rocking a decent head unit you can fuck about with teh E.Q's to the point where its sounding perfect for the shape of your car.

sounds good, Yeah i got a sony x-plod head unit, one of the more recent ones, with a usb port and integrated ipod lead-for about 150- can supply 52 x 4 watts. But if the sub is running off the amp then does it really matter about the headunit?

Yea, the sub runs off the amp, but the amp runs through your headunit as do your speakers(shit cant remember the name of the oblong speakers that go in your parcel shelf, got rid of my car when I moved to London so been a while since I've looked at/chatted about any of this kind of stuff). So its not JUST about the bass, you have to have the mids and highs at the right level so the bass isnt overpowering them or else itl jsut be like sitting inside a massive SUB.
So as long as your headunit can handle the wattage, which it will at 52 x 4 it'll sound crisp and clear and the better e.q control you got on the headunit the better you can control how it sounds...

personally, I really don't rate sony car audio at all. For more budget end I think Clarion are the best bet. I've got two clarion 12"s, non-ported. Tight but still deep enough for dubstep.

car audio systems are brilliant, cos the cars nice and small it contains all the sound.
my mate had 2 x 10" subs that made your brain vibrate.
only problem is securing everything that rattles, otherwise your parcel shelf etc will be buzzing around.
might be worth investing in a stealth shelf, hides your speakers and is alot thicker than standard parcel shelf so generally sounds better.

stay away from the Xplod's. They're ok for a basic system.
I'd recommend JL Audio if you want to expand the system later. Also try Alpine amps.

Get one of those tiny Alpine sub units that go under your seat. Serious bass pressure for a budget.

i got one of those, wouldnt recommend it.
thought they were pretty poor. for the same money you can get a proper sub anyway.
