I've just started listening to dubstep and find it to be everything I liked about DnB... huge crushing wobbly bass. It seems the emphasis is more on the sub sub stuff though whereas DnB's bass is more midrange bass (?)

Anyway I've got a mixed kit. A bunch of pedals, a King Kapitol Punishment Glamour Box, a Roland MC-505, a Zoom SB-246... more prosumer than professional by far.

I was leaning towards software production for awhile but my music lappy shit the bed on me so I went back to hardware. I still have my other laptop but I really miss having a dedicated machine.

My first post here, sorry if it seems too random.

My mate has a 505 that I use some times. I think the drums on (909!) are better than what you will get from software. I dont want to get into a arguement with people bout hardware vs software cos its each to there own. I think most the Dubstep being made right now in London is all done on software by the sounds of it. Its early days still and I am sure people will start doing there own thing instead of using the same VSTs as everyone else.

Yeah, software seems to be what going on because of ease of use but I'd be stoked to hear someone doing it all on hardware.

why? the mc505 with Cubase works very well and its easy. Cubase triggers everything on the 505 etc. The drums playing rom the 505 sounds so big and warm! Even if you sample the drums and play them its not quite as good.
