we had a taste with Various, and ppl are going nuts over the voices used in Burials stuff. not sure on the shitty remixes those weird 80's/90's things.
could it be achieved to take it from ppl pilled out robotic music in clubs to having singers who make a great edition to the music??

I don't think it needs humanising.
You ever bought an amazing tune but then don't really ever drop it cos of an annoying vocal? Alot of vocal parts ruin songs for me.
I think it would be better if MCs worked on better vocal range or have a real vocalist instead.
It'll end up like mainstream house where the songs are sold by the singer rather than the producer even though they don't really have much creative input at all.

I love those soaring vocals you get in hardcore/jungle tunes sometimes, I'm not sure if that could be particularly well integrated into a dubstep tune but why not

Humanising doesn't necessarily mean vocals though. Less rigid quantisation and a return to a bit more swing in the sound would be great, don't get me wrong, i love vocals, but a voice over a bland, funkless instrumental isn't making it sound any more "human".

Im new here.. but I thought this would be a good first post..

I don't usually put vocals in dubstep tracks but feel sometimes it helps the listener identify with the music easier.

But all in all I guess it depends on the track and the vocalist.


I have been producing some vocal dubstep lately. And would appreciate some feedback.

The vocal can work, just dont think need tracks with full on vocals on them.

Tracks like alicia, tears, i'm loving,

I think vocals on them work pretty well.

Suppose its a different matter with it being samples.

Yes but only if it adds to or glues together the track. Putting vocals in just because it is another instrument, rather than creating the vocal to give more dynamics to the track, can detract from the track.

Um, Jungle was exactly what I was referring to.

I'd say darkside hardcore and early jungle were both some of the best and least human music going. The 'intelligent' thing that came out with the attitude that they were going to start making 'real music' with 'real instruments' was pretty uniformly shit, not to mention insufferably smug (apparently, wasn't actually about at the time). The stick a singer on it and it's more authentic attitude isn't legendary for producing great music.
