layering bass is where you get your bass and split it in two with filters so that you have the sub on its own and what i call the mid-bass mono the sub layer and dont use any effects then modulate the mid-bass and use effects and whatever then mix them in together so they sit nicely

When i layer i will get my bass patch and run it through a filter lowpassing it at about 60 to 70 hz then if that is not subby enough i will duplicate however many times i need to to bring out the sub. I will also make my sub or bottom end mono and cut out all frequencies above about 70hz or something on a parametric eq. Next i will get another copy of the original patch and do a high cut off(my top end) and do the same again but with a mid cut off. So basically got my layers running then play with the cut offs on the eq till they fit nicely.Once im happy i will then add distortion, effects etc to the top end. Always make sure you add these to ONLY your top end as it will fuk with your low end frequencies and be one big MESS.

Oh yeah, the more layers you have the more depth you will have in your sound and the more you can process it, if you want to that is. Always layer with 3 layers on bass, low cut off, mid cut off and high cut off. With other sounds u may only need to layers, such as kicks. Depends. But saying that some very simple basses may only need 2 layers, so experiment and have fun.

well you can use layers to trigger off say 5 snares at the same time to get the sound you want
you just add each channel to layer - sorry dont have fl in front of me atm. try the help file also - fl's is surprisingly helpful.

Terminator X speaks with his hands.
Any notes in the layer channel will trigger all the layers 'children'.

?? Just like in the pic.
Right click on the channels little lights to select them - they should turn green.
Click the set children button in the Layer properties thingy.
Done?
