Discography & Mixes
Beat scholar, party scientist, ragga maniac, and remixer of singers from M.I.A. to Gregory Isaacs, DJ C continues to spread his fiercely eclectic gospel of crunkment, mashstep, ragga-bounce, and grime-hall across the land. He's been pumping out a series of records on U.S., U.K., and Japanese labels including a remix of M.I.A.'s U.R.A.Q.T. for her Galang 05 single on XL Recordings, as well as singles for Ninja Tune, Man Recordings, Shockout, Community Library, and his own Mashit imprint; sharing the groves in those slabs of vinyl with the likes of Sinden, Drop The Lime, Ghislain Poirier, The Bug, Kid606, Serj Tankian and many more. Back in Oct.'04 legendary BBC Radio 1 host John Peel chose Mashit as a "label of the month" and featured a DJ C mix of Mashit tracks. Since then his tunes have continued to evolve into ever-more devastating dance-floor monsters.

SHIVA
[ indy | SUBterror / Dubstep.fm / myspace.com/djshiva ]
For 13 years, Indianapolis techno mainstay DJ Shiva has brought a multitude of techno flavors to dancefloors nationwide. From electro to minimal, Chicago Jack to Detroit soul, the deepest to the hardest techno, her attention deficit disorder requires variety in both music and technique. With her foray into the realm of dubstep, the same rules (or lack of them) apply. From straight up chest rattling bangers to skeletonized exercises in minimal dub to bits and pieces of electro and techno, it's all in the mix. Utilizing over a decade of experience on the ones and twos, combined with the flexibility and creative possiblities of Ableton Live to re-edit, loop on the fly and add effects and beats, Shiva brings a fresh approach to the dubstep palette. From her production output, to her radio show on Dubstep.fm, Shiva is determined not only to spread the eclectic sounds of dubstep and techno to new audiences, but to quite possibly live in a subwoofer someday.

TIMID
[ chi | myspace.com/chicagodubstep / myspace.com/timidtim_mnmlefrt ]
Since Tim Arendt's move to Chicago in early '07, his promotion and production crew has exploded onto and invigorated the til-then nascent dubstep scene in Chicago. Responsible for booking sold-out shows at his Lava Lounge residency, Bass Goes Boom (the first Friday of every month), he has hosted and opened for such seminal UK and US dubstep acts such as Benga, Hatcha, Plastician, Matty G, Juju and Djunya.

DIRTY FRANCIS
[ mke | myspace.com/dirtyfrancis ]
Dirty Francis was introduced to an eclectic variety of underground dance music styles back in 1997 and since 2000 has been experimenting with programming and beat production. Consuming and studying an arsenal of experimental records from leftfield, idm, electro, glitch and classic styles like soul and dub has shaped and evolved his dj set - a mix of dub and dubstep vibes with some hip hop flavor thrown in.

Coming up next Friday already(!), the continuation of my new dubstep showcase for Milwaukee, Sublow. This show will be intense.

Extra sound support is making its way into the venue, plus headliners from outside of the city that you have to hear to believe.

The universal language is bass but each performer this night twists it into their own unique ways - DJ C will be party centric, Shiva will bring the industrial strength electro-tech-dub vibes and Timid, Frank and Screendoor hold it down for the Midwest.

I hope to see a healthy showing of out-of-towners again this month. You guys truly helped make last month's show something special! This show is worth the trip.
