make sure it's not something else like cables or the tonearm - check the cartridge in other decks. you can try cleaning the contacts on the back of the headshell and inside the tonearm with an eraser. if that doesn't work, try re-attaching the little wires that go from the cartridge to the headshell. should be fine.

Right ive already checked it in other turntable/stylus and its definitely the cartridge. Contacts at the back seem fine, but I cant work out how to open it up to check the cable majobbers.

you've got a one-piece then, eh. if it performs the same on both decks, I don't mean to insult your intelligence, but check silly things like master balance, etc. first and then try cleaning the contacts on the back of the cartridge very thoroughly (gentle) and taking the stylus off and making sure it's seated properly.

what kind of cartridge are you using?

Ortofons, the blue pro dj ones. And yeah ive checked everything I can think of/find and its seems to have boiled down to the cartridge.

And dannys cooking bacon and it smells fucking lovely. The bastard.

concordes are well known for doing that. over-tightening the headshell pushes the gold contacts in, and once you've removed and replaced them a few times can stop making contact completely.

First thing to try is screwing them on a little bit tighter, if you haven't already.... :)

Did you check to see if PK did a Hand Of Doom TM rewind on it?

a bit of spit on the plugs does the job, sounds nasty, but makes the contact stabilize . . . the both channels should be back . . .
mine [nightclub S] does this all the time . . .

hm . . .
how about the contact spot on the tone arm ?
fits perfect or a bit sloppy ?
If you can wriggle the cartridge a bit it might fall into place . . .
but maybe this is a different problem from mine . . .
