Im trying to make this electro/grime kind of synth sound and i have tried for soo long but im getting nowhere. The best example i could think of is the kind of synth joker uses

the closest is on "3k lane". Even if ur crap at producing, you shud check it out anyway cos its a big tune.

anyways theres like 4 major sounds in there. if your talking abotu the lead, and you look at his pics, he has an adromeda.. probably very hard to recreate that sound without a dedicated analog monster like that .

but try taking a lead from masive or blue and upping the semitones . let go of allot of effects and eq it.

hi, which sound do u mean? there are about 4-5 synth lines, i assume u dont mean the bass, ur probably refering to the higher "lead" sound in the track. Sounds to me like either a PWM pulse wave or 2 slightly detuned square waves and then there's the mod wheel set to add an lfo modulation (at maybe about 7Hz ish) of the pitch and amplitude of the oscillators which is being faded in and out for effect. I'd start out with a simple pwm pulse wave and mess around with adding lfo mod on the pitch and amplitude...

if ur talking about the wobble then its just an lfo with a bit of FM and weird resonance. if u mean the screechy highs then as he said its likely to either be square waves or triangles ran through low pass then possibly comb with a bit of FM between the squares.

I don't want to sound weird but, why would you want to know the exact sound that he makes?

Im talking about the high synth line that comes in with the first bass about 4 or 5 seconds in. And i forgot to say before that im using massive...

yeah should be easy to recreate in massive...i just mucked around a bit and got something pretty close, there'd be other ways to do this, but basically the ingredients i used were:

1)using all oscillators select Basic Square-Saw 1
2) set the first 2 to square and the third to saw
2) tune the oscillators to 24.00, 24.17, and 23.93 respectively
3)route them all through a lowpass with no resonance
4) take an LFO set the speed to about 2 o'clock
5) route the LFO to the pitch of *all* 3 oscillators, with a modulation of -1.00
6) route the LFO to the amplitude of *all* 3 oscillators and modulate to about a negative quater turn. (following me?)
7) back at the LFO, select sine wave in the top and 100% in the bottom
go to the voicing page, click monophon
9) goto osc page and make sure glide time is set to just under 10 o'clock
10) now as u bring up the X-fade curve slider of the LFO u should hear the vibrato kicking in, u'll need to hook this slider up to ur mod wheel or control knob so u can tweak it while u play.

and im not trying to rip that sound off cos obviously im gonna tweak it and stuff, i just wanted to get that same type of sound. Its like taking a preset and messing about with it till you get the sound you need.

By the way, the track isn't by Joker, it's an early version of "Freak Out" by Jakes. But you're right, the tune is sick.
