I fell in love with dubstep around Christmas time, and I haven't listened to anything other genre of music since. So far the highlight of my time as a dubstep fan has been Benga's radio 1 essential mix, which smacked me right in the left tit. However, I'm rather disappointed to find that i'm already getting a bit bored of things.

I listen to Rinse all the time, and all the big names have new tunes every show, yet one show sounds exactly like the last. How many bullfrog tracks do we need? I think there only so much LFO drenched basslines i can take. I'm actually listening to N-type more cos he's funny than cos i like the tunes. This makes me sad

bruv if you have listened to NOTHING but step since christmas like you say then i'm not surprised you are getting a bit bored of it, i don't know about you, but if i don't mix and match the kind of thing i'm listening to at home and when going out then it will start to feel stale after a while, whilst i still love dubstep there is no way i will restrict myself to listening to ONLY that

also there is plenty of varied dubstep out there you just need to have a dig for it, if you are constantly listening to the same radio station then you will be hearing the same DJ's who will normally continue to play the style they prefer, if this is not necessarily the style you're interested in then have a listen around to some other DJ's and radio shows

What other types of music are you into? If peeps know your broader taste we might be able to recommend different dubstep styles.

Don't solely immerse yourself in one style of music. I don't necessarily object to loads of tunes of the same sound as much as some people. You get people saying they're taking someone's idea and just using the same formula, and then that it becomes too 'formulaic', but it takes skill to use a formula and add your own thing to it and do it well.

Sometimes my favourite tracks aren't even remotely original, but they just sound good. And of course a lot of the use of an existing sound gets done because it sounds good in the first place. I'm all for originality in music, but sometimes you've just got to make a tune because it simply sounds good to your ears.

For starters i'm not interested in wobble threads at all, i'm just saying its just such a standard thing to do. When i first started watching videos about dubstep on youtube etc all the producers were saying dubstep wasn't about formula, it was about doing your own thing.

I know what you're saying about listening to the say station, but subdub seem to be doing a same sort of thing.

I know this may have been talked about before, but i swear some tunes just sound like 'slowed down drum and bass' to quote goldie. Surely it shouldn't be like that?

They do and thats fair enough, people like it and it hasnt got to the point (I think) yet where its unbearable. If your getting sick of what your hearing then check out some mixes from artists you havent heard before.

I cant fucking stand it, that one track MG22 I think it is with the plinky plonk cello (or whatever) intro is wicked, although the drop does just get in the way And as for the rest of it, its just exactly what im not feeling in dubstep atm, which is a bit annoying cos I swear that albums had a bigger influence on the sound of dubstep in one go than anything ive ever seen! At the dmz 3rd bday I swear a third of the tunes sounded like a variation on diaries of an afro warrior!

But yeah, whatever. I dont like it, so I didnt buy it and dont listen to it! Theres still PLENTY of stuff getting produced/released which blows me away every day, just got to find it!

And that's exactly why it's so bloody disappointing!

None of the tracks seem to be going anywhere! In an interview he did on youtube he said it took him 2 months to get 40 odd tracks together. That seems like no time at all to produce a album which people would be paying a fiver plus for. I got mugged.
