yeah, so im gonna get me some monitors i think, dont wanna spend too much on them to be honest though, seeing as im a student, i dont have much money and i live the other side of a paper thin wall from a guy who probably wouldnt appreciate my awful music at 4 in the morning...

ive bee looking on hard to find, cause i can go into the shop and pick them up rather than relying on getting them posted to me, seeing as the post in my building can be really dodgy, they just leave peoples parcels on top of the post boxes

i cant afford to spend any more than £100, and there seems to be quite a selection on the htfr website (www.htfr.co.uk) for less than £70, which would suit my budget even better (the less i spend on monitors, the more i will have to put towards a keyboard controller)

the thing is, some of them are listed as being 20 watt, whereas others are 150 watt, for the same price...

is the wattage of the speakers the most important thing, or should i be looking at some other specifications?

1st thing to watch is active or passive monitors. With passive you need an amp, with active you don't. In your case active is the way to go.
Then wattage, 20W is a bit quiet, 150W is pretty loud you won't need that much. Try to find something in between.
Apart from that, it's all a matter of comparing them at the shop & finding the best sounding for your budget.
You will find a lot of information about most common speakers if you bother doing a search on the forum. Decklyn did an amazing comparative thread.
Last suggestion, consider buying them 2nd hand. 100 GBP will get you nowhere for new monitors.

Never ever trust that kind of bullshit. They sell them for 69 GBP and that's what they're worth. Thomann sells them 10 GBP cheaper than that.

Look for something that costs 150/200 GBP new and try to find it used.

yeah ill have a look around for something second hand then, dont know where theres a cash converters or anything near where i live at the minute,
and id rather not ebay them, wanna hear them first really...
