Deserves a thread of his own surely?
if you dont know, you really should...
the flow, delivery, content and production is all one of a kind imo. guy makes ridiculous beats.
hope he comes out of hibernation again soon.

ah nice. may have to consider getting down to that. although i've heard hes not great live. but then again i suppose it varies every time.

no doubt. i dont even class him as hip hop anymore. guys in his own league all together. always loved the introspective lyrics and contemplative tone. and thats just on the 'downbeat' tracks.
his beats are fucking insane everytime. they draw elements and influences from alot of obvious places but they always turn out unique--cant compare.

Roots manuva is sick!!!
Saw him play in Manchester a couple of years ago, didn't think it was amasing but then again I stood near the back coz the missus at the time was pretty short and couldn't see fuck all towards the front.

It's his production that does it for me, on the first album especially.

It was me and my bold self with five bags of coppers
Splashed out on the counter at PJ Patel's
He's far from happy with my method of pay
I shrug my shoulders, I'm like what can you say?
It's money, ain't it? I ain't begging you jack
And mood I'm in, I might just give you a slap
I grip my Jack&s and I leave in peace
As I stepped through the door he heard the kiss of my teeth
Roots Manuva - Strange Behaviour
Big fan of the song he did with Cinematic Orchestra as well - All Things To All Men. Though that third (proper) album wasn't all that.
@ Ramadan, how recent was this? My mates saw him at fabric about 2 weeks ago? Said he was on form.

i dont think theres much truth in this, although there were rumours that he was losing the plot a bit, some of the lyrics on his latest LP seem to go into this a bit as well.
apparently hes got a habit of turning up at shows completely fucked, my mate saw him in portsmouth and said he could barely stand up, but was rhyming perfectly! man just likes his booze a bit too much i guess, along with other stuff.
all that aside, hes easily the best UK hip hop artist ever, by a fucking mile. run come save me is classic, and awfully deep is really underrated as well, along with the remixes.

Anyone that doesn't know his music needs to listen to 'Chin High' immediately. I saw him at Brixton Academy a couple of years ago and that track in particular tore the roof off.
