and then went back to a mates flat...we were playing some music and chilling out.....we were actually listening to venetian snares devils totem for some reason but really enjoying it...anyway this bloke there is like WHATS THIS????...and then says...i wanna play you a song yeah....my mate whose a drum & bass dj played it and it took me forever to find it!....i feared the worst as he seemed a bit of a tit.....anyway he then gets his phone out after talking up this tune all the way through vsnares and plays it.....i should have guessed really......it was pendulum - spiral

it was lucky really as i had to get going:)

fuck sake.....lol

Ah ha! I know the feeling all too well...

I was playing at a club a fortnight ago and this young guy comes up while I'm playing and he's like "Do you guys have any CDs, your stuff's really cool" ...and I was like "sure, don't have any on me but I can get you one" (slightly chuffed). Then he asks if I'd play a request... (alarm bells) but I was "sure if I've got it I'll see what I can do..."

"Got any Pendulum?"

WTF!? Did it totally escape his attention that I wasn't even playing Drum and Bass?

I politely had to decline as I'd blown out by neglecting to pack the Pendulum back catalogue

Not the first time either! Generally if someone actually tries to request a tune it's Pendulum or something equally mutty.

Still waiting for someone to request something I actually own, let alone have in the bag on the night.

During Aucklands 2006 all too brief (and as you'll discover, slightly fraudulent) "Jungle is BACK" hype moment it was a common occurence for Pendulum to be blasting thru the PA by 2.30 AM.
This happened on the two occasions that I actually got off my bum to go & hear some jungle and I was well browned off. I am reliably informed that it was all too common.
"Man didn't come here to hear Clownstep..."
Best I got so far: "so are you going to play anything that isn't dubstep?" (@ SubRiot, Dirty Cash's first local line up all dubstep event : 100% DUBSTEP plastered all over flyers, Bitch knocked the needle right across Midnight Request Line while leaning over the decks to drop that gem on me)

i was warming up for Ikonika here in Bristol the other nite, playing a nice deep selection, lots of TRG, Martyn, Boxcutter, that sort of thing. Some kiddie leans over the decks to chat to me:

"alright mate, when's the dubstep comin on?"

"err, this IS dubstep mate"

"nah, you know, DUBSTEP, like Spongebob by Coki"

""

was disappointed but also laughing in college today as i came outta politics to hear the strains of coki's refix of "burnin" on someones phone (lol), went up to the two rudeboys playing it and said "good to hear a few people round here other than me are into dubstep, come to this" (handing them one of my many platform 1 flyers) - they looked at me like i was the worlds biggest twat and said "what the fuck is dubstep?"

might i add that funnily enough i was not impressed :|

their death stare at me for daring to talk to them was quite funny though

haha aye, i'm sure they were alright blokes, just maybe not accustomed to over enthusiastic strangers coming up to them asking about their music....

still was the first time i've introduced myself to a fellow stepper and they've not been friendly :(
