[Classic Alert]Laurie Anderson 'O Superman' REMIX [320 in!]

I was browsing through my old records and stumbled upon "O Superman" by Laurie Anderson, which was strangely enough a big hit around 1982. In my opinion a very important song in electronic/samplebased music. I played it and before the 9-minute epos was over I fired up my MacBook to remix it. I rearranged the original vocals and meoldies and programmed beats and bass (with the good old Nord Lead) and a shitload of fx around it and I think I kept a fair piece of the original vibe....
Download it and please tell me what you think!

cheers!

I enjoy remixes of classics and this one is really nice. I remember Laurie Anderson; she was a multimedia performance artist back before the days where
everybody became a multimedia performance artist
Anyway, good stuff...will play it out, for sure. Thanks!

That will mean a lot to me. I know I'm going to play it myself, but if someone else will it'll be very much appreciated. That's the biggest compliment!

The download limit is reportedly exceeded.

I'm listening to this on your myspace page at the moment, and I would definitely love to have a 320 to play out; I think that the original might be known to some around these parts.
Respect.

The intro doesn't do this track justice. At first I was pretty skeptical, but the track is really nice once it gets into it. Big up your face.
eta - do I hear metroid samples in there?

ok here's my feedback. gonna be brutally honest, but don't hate me, i dunno any other way to be.
love love love the intro. i am a laurie anderson fan from waaaay back. i love it at the beginning, but my only real gripe is that the bassline (melody-wise) remains fairly static throughout the entire song. there is one basic changeup and a little distorto bit in there, but overall, same thing...repeatedly.
i would really encourage some bass changeups, maybe have the bassline sync to the melody or become a countermelody, even if it only does it briefly.
there is just so much melody to work with in this song for the bassline to be that static.
i think by really working with that melody and bass interchange, this would move from being an "ok" remix to a brilliant one, IMHO.

After a week of listening to it I totally agree with you on that point. working on it as I write! At first I really liked the static bass, now it starts to annoy me after the first 16 bars!

No man, I have to disappoint you, the only samples come from the O Superman original...... I think you refer to the Massive synth.
