Subwoofer farts....

Had a quick search and saw an old thread on subwoofer farting syndrome, but just wanted to ask something specific to my set up.

I have just bought KRK RP8s and an RP10 Subwoofer. The RP8s are all cool and sound crisp, but im having problems with my RP10.

The RP8s are brand new, but the RP10 was B-Stock. I've set everthing up as i should, but the RP10 can hardly handle any bass at all. The settings on the back go from -30 to +6db. If i turn it up past -6db, the sub starts farting. Not a good look that it doesn't even get to 0, which i'm sure it should do right?!?!

So my question is....is the sub fucked? my guess if yes, but i just wanted to ask some peoples advice on it. Could it just be something easily fixable?

I phoned the place i got it and they said they would take it back and repair it, or send it back for repairs at KRK.

The thing is, although it's B-Stock, i don't think it would have had that much use, so if it's broken already, and they repair it, is it likely to break again?? It only comes with a 3 month warranty and i don't want to be stuck with a repair bill if it happens again!

Any advice would be great

Cheers

what does b-stock mean? like a floor model? refurbished?

if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. a sub should be loud and powerful. if you feel like you have to hold it's hand or play nice, definietly get rid of that piece!

B - stock usually ex demo gear, practically brand new, so it should work, as it would have been used to sell the product. My advice is yes bring it back to them, show them yourself the problem, you may be doing something wrong, if you are they will tell (should tell you), if it's a faulty sub, get them to send to the manufacters for repairs.

Yeah, there's deifinitely something wrong. Even if i hold it's hand it still shits itself so back it goes. Just not sure whether to get them to fix it or get a refund and get a brand new one, rather than the b-stock

Try for a new one, if you have the cash, it will settle your mind if anything else.

Just ordered a new one. originally thought it might be worth trying to save the money on getting it cheap, but it's really not! Peace of mind is where it's at!

Hopefully should get the new one early next week now :D

I have the same RP8/RP10 setup, and usually run at -3, but can at 0 without the problem you're having, so definetly something is wrong with the sub.

Safe for the reply el hobre.

The bust one is on it's way back and a new one should be on it's way soon as soon as KRK send some into the country! Nowhere has them in stock. They all say In-stock on the websites, but i've phoned around and nowhere has one in. So frustrating!

My rp10 started farting... I took off the grill and noticed that the rubber outter edge of the woofer came loose, air was coming out and flapping the edge. I bought some speaker glue and resealed it, works perfectly fine again.
