anyone got any good ones at all?

tracks seem ot lose a lot of midrange and high frequency when in myspace, some peeps seems to iliminate this loss really well...but how?

should i just add more in my mixdown, like a special myspace mix down? or will this be pointless?!!

Mastering compression, or in my case, mash the fuck out of it.

Yeah, I'd be wary of trying to change it too much just for myspace, simply because you're dealing with so many variables. i'd just get the mix as good as possible, and then mash the fuck out of it with an L2 or something - go way harder than what you would for a cd and you should be fine.

Mastering, mastering, mastering, mastering!!!!! Oh and mastering! also, only put a clip of the track on, so you can use a higher quality mp3!

Even with a clip of a high ( well as high ) quality Mp3, the quality is much lower in myspace then in say- Winamp, or windows media player.

i know its not possible to get it sounding identical, but i have specifically noticed some producers seem to get the myspace sound alot better then others, and am just struggling to understand how.

AND i have tried the above technique with a professionally mastered track of mine as well, still have the same issue.

I do and everyone who listens to the tracks should do. The better the quality, the more likely people are to wanna play it out, and eventually sign tracks. its not rocket science to work that out. :?:

Check this thread...

Seems someone else had similar questions recently! :)

Remember that if you wish to release your tunes, keep your best stuff off myspace or at a low quality so that others can't cheekily skank your stuff!!

yea i have been wondering about this too. some have nailed it with really tight smooth sounding tracks. mine and many others have the occasional glitch in them... dunno if this is down to conversion or streaming limitations. but there must be a way

my best guess is that it comes own to mp3 conversion from various different bitrates to 64. here's hoping some clever bastard reveals their secrets in the thread

mix better.
ax yourself this:
is it just on myspace
or is it the same when you compare your tracks
in full quality with the desired sounding tracks of your favourite producers
???

im pretty sure most of them dont have a special myspace mastering.

some quotes from 10$bag stolen from other thread
(i think he pretty nailed it):
£10 Bag wrote:errrrrr getting a tune to sound good on myspace is no different to getting it sounding good in winamp or on a dubplate.

like cryptic said, it converts them to 64kbps, so experiment with exporting different 64kbps quality mp3 mixes of your tunes, see which one is the best and upload it. this is pretty useless though, don't get distracted by bit rates and so on, if your tune is mixed proper, it will sound proper.

but, like i said, get a good mix and it will sound good in winamp/your car/myspace player/your mum's fanny/underwater/on walkman. there is nothing special about the myspace player except that it lowers the bit rate of your music.

do people actually do this?
i wouldn't give a shit, if someone wants to rip a 64kbps version of my tune and listen to it, i'll leave them to it, they're obviously pretty fuckin' stupid

i take my normal master encode to 320kbps and upload.
thats it.
it sound ok (like a 64kbps crap mp3 could sound)

waste your time worrying about how it sounds on myspace
or waste it making more tunes
its music not mixdowns that will catch most peoples ears

mix down well and whack a limiter on to get it soundin nice and loud.
generally only tracks with too much going on and poorly produced sounds will sound bad on myspace anyway.

this is not true at all. in fact, the heavier your bass is (or more "airy" your top end is) the more likely yr myspace clips will sound like shit. myspac doesnt seem 2 b able to deal with all the necessary frequencies at once, so it effectively swallows some frequencies up 2 make room.

the link i posted earlier is 2 a plug-in that apparently tries to take these problems into account b4 encoding.

tho it aint free, and 2b perfectly honest i aint THAT bothered about myspace

my shit is properly mixed and professionally mastered and it sounds fucking terrible on myspace. and i aint alone in this, seen plenty of v-good producers complaining about the bass overloading everything else or similair problems.

but as some pppl have pointed out above, there's more important things 2 worry about

yeah i'm with earthling on this one. I reckon www.soundcloud.com is the best option. embed their player and you can offer people a download at whatever quality you want and their mp3 encoding seems to sound pretty good.

Go to my myspace page below and you can see/hear their player.
