Three Walls (106D Blue Star, Building B, 8 p.m.) —It's almost impossible to keep up with all the permutations of music in the '00s, but you can try. Boyd and Addkison are disc jockeys who spin dubstep, a sort of evolution of the drums and bass movement. According to the dubstep info, the records are spun at 138-140 beats per minute (a bit faster than the classic 120 bpm dance-music tempo). At the moment, London is the dubstep hotbed, so consider this a sneak peek without a trans-Atlantic flight.

yeah, i decided initially not to comment on the articles, but they're not the best, i agree...
just thought id post it for what its worth, and indeed, the sound is spreading. too bad intelligent journalism and reporting doesnt seem to be following suit..

but, i agree with a few things said here...

1. spreading the sounds is a good thing.
2. the writer should have done more with this article. Then again, we're spoiled with excellent writing/blogging. We all know the names...Blackdown, Gutterbreakz..etc.

not exactly sure what you mean, but after rereading this, i realize its not very well written. i was trying to say that too bad intelligent reporting and journalism isnt spreading as well, sort of a weak jab at the media. nothing to do with dubstep per say...

i just want to say that tim's a great guy, don't be too hard on him

he's a prolific music journalist and while not necessarily an expert on dubstep, he does command extensive knowledge of many musical genres

he's been following this scene since before the dark garage days and he's got all the vinyl to prove it.. he was also one of the first (if not _the first) to convince record shops in cambridge/boston to start carrying dubstep and tell them what to label it

the author of the article.. he does have a way of 'editing' out bits of quotes to paint certain ppl in a particular way, but in general he's safe

I don't think that is from an Austin paper. I assume it is from the San Antonio paper since Justin is from there.

Yeah, that little blurb came from the MySA.com. A little creative license was taken it would seem on the writers part, I'm sure a piece of it was based on the press release and then extrapolated out from there. All in all the night was good though.
