Liverpool - Fri 09.05.08 - Jasbof Present Rustie

Glasgow’s prodigal son Rustie is the sound of the underground before the underground has even had a chance to get out of bed. Having battered his way into our ears and minds under his Voltaic moniker with celebrated releases on Glasgow label Point.1 Recordings, Rustie has recently come out all guns blazing.
‘Jagz The Smack’ was released on an unsuspecting public through fledgling label Stuff Records and quite literally sent shockwaves through the Electronic Music scene, with everyone from Modeselektor to Flying Lotus, Anthony "Shake" Shakir to Alex Smoke going absolutely crazy for it.
An electronic maverick of the highest order, Rustie marries the energy of hyphy with the low slung bass of Dubstep while straddling the stuttering swagger of European electronica with the greatest of ease.
2008 has already seen further critically acclaimed releases on Stuff & Kode 9's Hyperdub label and remixes for Jahcoozi and Alex Smoke, with a remix also coming up for the legendary Warp Records as well as many more, truly a producer in huge huge demand.
His DJ & live shows have taken him all over the UK and Europe, and hes recently played alongside Method Man & Redman, The RZA, Modeselektor, Flying Lotus and many more & this year he's already played at Bloc Festival where his set was later played on Mary Anne Hobb's Breezeblock show, he will also be hitting Sonar for the first time next month to play alongside alongside Toddla T & Drop The Lime.
Quite simply, and we dont say this lightly, this is THE MOST EXCITING ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC ARTIST ON THE PLANET. Don't miss what will be one of the last chances to see him in a small and intimate venue before he blows up....bigtime.
The main support comes from Manchester Female Dubstep Duo, The Steppahs. Residents at one of the most famous partys in the North of England, Metropolis, these girls are just fresh from destroying The Ministry Of Sound last month alongside one of the biggest line ups ever seen in the capital. Bringing with them their special Mancunian vibes and their own Mc, Mc Chunky (We usually aren't too keen on Mc's in Dubstep but trust us, this guy is perfect), expect nothing but goodness from these 2 manc minxes.
We've also got the Dreadnought duttyman Thomas E.Griffin taking on No Excuses' Dubstep king Bud, as well as Chibuku + Heavy Rot8ion residents Furness + Venom doing their usual battle, finally backed up by What Is This? Dubstep head honcho, Disco Recka.
We are really really excited and proud of this booking, this boy is going to blow up this year, its a bit of a coup. To celebrate we are installing some extra bass, super lighting and some proper sick decor. This is gonna be special. Truly underground business & one of the sickest line ups we have had in a long time, and all for Three english pounds. Dont miss.
