just got some krk rp 8s ,when i use them with my computer they they make a humin noise the secod i shut down my computer it stops even though the monitors are still on !

You might have an earthing loop... usually this only happens with laptops with dc power supplies. Check your power supply thats all I can recommend.

2nd the earthing loop.
The monitors should have their own power supply, apart from any other device. There might still be a bit of humming then but not much.

This should stop as soon as you get a proper audio interface. A D/I Box like this one should help, too:

used to get awful hum off my PC laptop when it was connected to the mains. I also use a MAudio Firewire 4/10.
I got these XDirect DI Boxes:
which didn't completely solve the problem but it wasn't as significant a hum.
Now Im on a MACBOOK PRO, I don't have a problem at all, I don't even use the DI Boxes anymore.

alittle unrelated but I trouble-shooted a really odd problem yesterday. if my left deck was on i'd get really loud humming. For some reason I tried lifting it up, and the problem stopped... turned out I had a whole bunch of wires from the other decks and stuff under it, moved em and the humming stopped!

tried moving the speakers to two seperate plug s still no luck !

problem sorted ! i swapped my soundcards firewire from the back of my monitor the the front of my pc problem solved no hum
