in no particular order

Manchester, Bristol, Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cornwall, Lake District......I could go on

either that or you could just stay in London and pretend it's the only place in the UK like everyone else down there :P

Avoid West Street and Queens Road if possible (the ones leading to the beach directly from the station) - seems to be a dickhead magnet on Fridays and Saturdays.

on a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate these places on "englishness"

certeria being: fish and chip quality, tea and cakes, drunken homelessness and buildings that look the same.

Brighton fish and chips are generally shite cause they like serving overpriced, low quality shit to Londoners throwing money around cause they're "on fackin' 'oliday". Tea probably expensive most places but seem to be mostly Starbucks, Cafe Nero, etc so should be exactly the same as Anytown, UK or you can find a pretentious cafe designed as a respite for the trophy wives and other high paid wastrels to take a break from buying more shit for their overpriced houses.

Best places that aren't corporate or excessively wanky are in the North Laines, left and downhill from the station. Could check the Events guide on the forum to see what's going on. As far as pubs go, there's quite a lot of good'uns, most of the best of these are quite out the way and it depends what you're after really. Any pubs near redeveloped areas you can expect to pay stupid money for alcohol due to the yuppy shit they attract.

And all the best things happen under the surface although the council seems to be hotter on stopping these as it does detract from their big business cuntbuddies.

Oh and the majority of drunken homeless got moved to Hastings as it ruined the tourist experience.

If you're coming down tonight - the volks has a fun night on (go straight down from station to the new pier and its just down on the marina parade on the left), not been to this one before tho....:

CUTLOOSE - BRIGHTON SOUNDCLASH! Drum & Bass - Jungle - Oldskool Hardcore DJs from all crews. Extra Y-Inter Soundsystem.Dubstep - Breaks + Oldskool G in room 2. £4/3 b4 11. 10-4am. DRINKS PROMOS - 1.50 ON SELECTED SHOTS. Check out: www.cutloosecrew.com

they got a Playgroup night on on the Saturday which is eclectic - no news yet, but can be anything from beatboxing to the carnival collective.
