KRK RP8 or KRK RP5 cant decide which ones to get. Cheaper would be better but for the sake of a few pound am I better off with the RP8. or are the RP5s ok? what do you think I should do?

I like the sound of the KRK RP8, a friend of mine has them. But if I were you, I would get the RP5 and spend the rest of the money on a subwoofer, becauser neither the RP5 nor the RP8 will get you far (or should I say low?) concering the bass levels.

i've got some rp6 cl and love them, though i'm gonna need to get a studio sub soon

Currently running RP8/RP10, and am happy with it, but would probably do RP6/RP10 if I could do it over again.

get the 8s if your not gonna get a sub straight away

I have RP8s. I think they are a bit bassy in the midrange. They definitely don't produce much low end and it would be good to have a sub with them. In my experience with them in the last few months, I find them to produce bass that isn't really there when you relisten with a sub. It's kind of a pain in the ass when you're making bass heavy music. I'll even monitor with a spectrum analyzer and the bass is rarely reproduced the same on a sub.

Like the invisible man...I'd probably go with the rp5/6 and the sub if I could do it again.

yep, basically If u intend to get a sub get the 5's, if you aint going to get a sub then 8's.

I run the 6's in the studio without a sub and they are pretty bassy.

If your gonna get the 5's i'd recommend a sub coz on their own they struggle with some low frequency's when the volume is high.

Also depends on the size of the room you put em in

Would the RP5s go up as loud as the Tannoys. cause I like to turn it up sometimes. Tannoys reveals with a samson servo amp is what I was using

I do like Rokits, they are really good for punchy music. They dont have that brittleness that makes you lose sense of the top end like some do.

go for the 8s.

or 6s or 5s with accompanying sub

got the rp5 + 10s, happy as a busy busy bee.

Thing is Monitors are really personal, the ONLY way to decide is to go to a shop where they have a lot set up, then take a CD with tracks that you know really well, preferably heard on many systems, and listne to them on the different monitors. Your ear can only remeber for a couple of seconds so you need to be able to switch between the monitors.

@Joe C, if you want crisp high end then check out the Samson Rubicon range, I got a pair of 6a's and they sound great, a midrange priced speaker that uses ribbon tweeters.

go for RP6's or RP5's and use the rest for RP10S Sub- perfect combination.
IT depends what kind of space you have, IMO and experience, there is no need for RP8's unless you have a big studio- you could easily rock a small house party with those badboys- too much power for me personally. Like many have said, get a nice set of RP moniters and use the rest for a sub as the RP range is generally quite low on the bass (forgotten the cut off point but they have real crisp highs and that is what they are renowned for).
If you want a good cheaper, all in 1 type monitor, with much more bass (though not as crisp highs) get a set of Samsons.

I completely agree with your selection. I prefer these over Rokit's. But the man is correct. It's a very personal choice. Get a sound you can trust=$$$. Getting a sound you enjoy too is a matter of experiencing what's out there in your price range. They're speakers. How much can we really say about them? The experience can't be shared. So go experience them.

i use the RP6 with no sub and i love them, they only go down to 49hz but i've found with a combination of referencing on other systems, headphones and A/Bing with other tracks it's fine.
