HELP - PS3 or X-Box 360??
I wanna buy a console for GTA IV, i've been holding out on buying a console for this day.
Only problem is I'm not sure which console to buy in a few hours....
What's better PS3 or X-Box???

Speaking from a non-bias point of view.. But a pretty avid gamer personally if you have the money for either/or I'd go with the PS3 and its the best time to buy it.
All the big games are coming.
That PS3 home thing.
The new 'dashboard' coming out.
Free to play online.
Plus I prefer personally the PS3 controls.
Ive played both and they're both great consoles but PS3 has more ticks for me!

whenever i get around to purchasing one i'm going with the 360.
haven't spent too much time playing the ps3, so i'm just going with what i've tried and has proven itself.

Just got my copy..
And Chefal, one system to get it on mate. PS3.
Free online play (no subscription like the 360), Blu-ray player, can insert any 2.5" laptop hard drive in the PS3 if you want to upgrade it's size (and not a Microsoft specific one for £100 which only goes up to 120gb), built-in wireless (you have to buy a wireless adaptor seperately for the 360, pads dont require batteries.. LOADS more, trust.
Ok, the xbox version will be getting some exclusive material before the PS3, but who cares. The game is long enough to enjoy as it is, not forgetting multiplayer.
Oh, and check out this link about 'Play TV' coming soon. Just watch it..!

You won't regret getting a PS3, honestly. You might well if you got an xbox.
Anyway, off to play some Grand Theft baby..

360 is cheaper and has a better graphics card..
ps3 has more processors but u cant use all of them yet because no one knows how to harness the 8 processors, or sumfin.
having said that i play both regularly and they are both good..
there are more games on 360

Chef, check this out before you hear all the fanboy bias that forums breed.
http://kotaku.com/384422/which-version- ... 0-versions
This is about as impartial a breakdown i've seen and the comments below the article add a bit more info if you can be arsed to read any of them.
Seems it's a case of what you prefer between online content/experience (360) and a marginally better technical experience (PS3).
Problem with asking people what consoles to buy on forums is that they all tell you the 'best' games are comin out on this one or that (check out the 'Console Gaming Thread' which originally started out as a 'What Console Should I Buy?' thread for many an example of this:
http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t ... ole+gaming) The truth is both consoles will eventually have an excellent back catalogue, though currently due to the extra year on the market the 360 has a superior range of high quality titles and the multi-format ports up till now have pretty much always looked better on 360.
I will also have the same predicament when i come round to buying one of them and i still dont feel any closer to deciding.

my mate got gta4 on xbox last night- its good, but not sure if this is due to xbox, sometimes it is quite choppy and that, bit like all other gta games at times when it is doing a lot i guess.
id say ps3, as it will probably have a longer life and games output etc. Is more expensive though. Xbox has got a better online system currently but you have to pay subscription fees etc whereas not on PS3. If you get a PS3 tho, be sure to get a 60GB or better one- have heard the 40GB ones miss a lot of features of the bigger hard drive consoles including backwards compatibility with all your own ps1 & 2 games?

this morning i well had that thing where i'd been playing gta for so long that I was feeling like i lived it- just walk out my door jack a car, run over some people just for joke- i don't think I can ever play the others now cos the physics on the people (as well as numerous other things) is just so good- hitting people or jacking their car and them holding on and going under the wheels is so satisfying even after 100th time
@ felix what you think?

Oh and I never heard of an Xbox360 that burns a hole in itself.
Atleast if the Xbox breaks you post it to them and they send it back all fixed - for free of course. But if your Xbox breaks it might mean you played it too much

LOL at someone
trying to suggest PS3's break down more often than the 360.. seriously, that's funny..
As it goes, if something does go wrong with your PS3 then Sony arrange for it to be picked up, by courier, and re-delivered free of charge. Happened to my bro, picked up the faulty one and replaced it with a new one on the spot. All he had to do was sign for it. All in the space of three days, would have been sooner if he could have been in the next day, but work comes first.

the 360 also has a nasty habit of scratching discs as well - it has done for 3 of mine already that I have had to have resurfaced.
There's no doubt the PS3 is better made component wise, but the 360 is v competitive on price.

I've heard that there's nothing that acutally holds the disc in place when it's being read, so it can damage the discs if you have it in the vertical position. Still, I love my elite.
