this has happens to me many times before, why doesn't the sampler play differerent notes when I load up a sample? the pitch doesn't change with any different keys i hit. anybody know whats wrong? only happens with certain samples, all wav files.

i've noticed this too. don't know what causes it, but sometimes by messing with the envelope it helps weird samples behave normally.

the default setting doesn't have the attack at maximum even though when you just drop a sample in, it always plays with maximum attack.

set the attack to hit immediately (dialed all the way to the left) and see if that helps things

no dice on messing with the attack. this is weird because the time stretching pitch change knob works and changes the sample's pitch fine, but the other pitch knob on top of the sampler doesn't work.

Open channel settings for the sample that is giving you shit.


Look at the testing keyboard, make sure that C5 is in an orange block.



If not, thats your issue. Sometimes a sample will load up to a preset note.


To fix this, right click on C5 one time. This should fix the problem.

nope, wasn't the problem, i actually click something and now only that C5 key highlighted by orange plays the sample. the other keys just don't play at all now.

It's beacuse the samples timestretched. If you right click timestretch and select none then problem solved. If you want the sample timestretch and want to play different keys then timestretch and bounce it and bring it back into the sampler untimestretched.

I think Docwra nailed it, another problem can be if it's a very long sample and FL is streaming it directly from the disk, in which case you simply uncheck "Keep on disk".

okay, the sample was timestretched a little bit, i turned it back to zero and it still didnt work. i then ran into another problem where only that one key would play the sample. after, somehow fixing that problem, i played with those options, the 'keep on disk' was unchecked to begin with, and it still did not work. After, i tried messin with the timestretch knobs and fruity decided to crash. After reloading it up, I played with the looping options and checked the 'keep on disk' and now it works. So to get it to work i have 'keep on disk' checked, and the 'use loop points' unchecked. The weird thing is all other samples have use looped points CHECKED. WEIRD. anyway thanks for the help.

I dont think the problem had anything to do with 'keep on disk' at all.

It seems to me that you are using 2 button control and used left click to try to set the root note, therefore locking your key into C5 and only C5

Check your preferences and see if you are 'using 2 mouse buttons'

If you are, this will tell you what you could have done to fix the problem without quitting FL

With dual mouse button control, right clicking in the keyboard field in the ins misc or func tabs (within the channel settings window) sets the root note as normal, and left clicking selects keys to play, and locks out the keys that are unselected (for advanced control purposes).

This can make things confusing, and sometimes necessary to reset the root note.

Go to the misc tab in the channel settings click the 'reset' button on the bottom left above the piano keys. this resets the root note to C5 for you and cancells all note selections, just in case it's been set weird.

Also drag the 'time' button in 'time stretching' in the 'smp' tab down to 0 and drag it down a bit even if it looks like it's already at 0.

Guess you figured it out, but this may help you for the same problem or other problems in the future.

i've run into that before, always just fixed it in the timestretch/multi knobs.

yea messing with timestretch/crf/envelope/loop normally fixes it.
i'm never 100% how to fix it but get there in the end

timestretch = auto = your problem. (change to Resample)

the first problem was timestretch, which he easily fixed

the bigger problem that he was never able to figure out without quitting FL was what I explained above.
