Press "delete" when the computer starts (several times in case...). You'll enter what is called the BIOS.
There should be something like a "Boot Sequence" menu (whatever referring to "boot" will be it), enter it and make sure the 1st boot is the CD drive (which should be D: ).
Exit with saving. Put your Windows CD in the drive. It should now boot from it and let you install Windows properly.

Sounds like your mother board is using the HD as the primary boot device. You need to change it to boot from CD. This happens in your bios. There should be message when you first boot turn on your computer telling you to hit some key for configuration options. That should bring up the bios and you can set the primary boot device.
Good luck

Quad core is a waste of money if you ain't a very hardcore gamer or a professional 3D graphic designer imho.

im not so sure about it being a waste of money, you can build a top spec quad core for less than half the price someone like pc world will charge if you hav the knowhow and where to look

Never maxed out my dual core 2 ghz (2 gb RAM) and my last tune uses 18 tracks + 3 send bus, more than 10 VSTi instances (including Massive, Absynth and such) with tons of effects on them...
And I guess if you know how to build a cheap quad core, you know how to build a real cheap dual core...
Anyway, each to their own. I only upgrade things if I really and desperately need it. Makes life much easier on the budget side.
Subindex, are you sorted mate?

Try and write a little more clearly because it is a little hard to read what your typing.
With the CD in the CDROM, reboot your PC and press either ESC/DEL/F1/F10/F11 (depends what your computer says at start up) on your keyboard and keep tapping it until you reach a new screen, should look something like this:
Choose BIOS Features Setup (maybe called Advanced BIOS Features)
Look on the left hand side and find First Boot Device, change it to boot from CDROM
Reboot.

get a bootable disk, any veriaty ( 98 probably a good one ) as you need to Format your hard drive.. simple process just involves proper deleting everything on it ( dont worry its automated ) by this i mean it removes the bootable bits from the disk so u can start fresh..
I see u've got a sick box but i still would hold tight with a more stable os...
You could really make linux fly... but that maybe beside the point..
I'll be online later if ur about I can assist, getting a bootable disk isnt as difficult as it sounds, i've got a USB stick you could use to get the job done... then its just getting a 'Real' stable os on there..

Shit i totaly neglected to mention formatting fat type
different versions (of operating system) will give you different options to format using;
Older ones Fat32 (good for external HDD's (work on anything))
No what you'll be using on vista i dont think, It should say Format NTFS, eitherway dont worry about this ish just hit go (i tend to go for quick format on large hdd's as can take some time)
hope you are up and running soon
