amnesia, as far as I can tell there aren't, kodama might know better but i ain't from Sydney At the moment I'm trying to work out how Tempa011 ended up being sold for $8 in the "breaks bargain bin" at my local record spot here in Adelaide ?

Prior, I'll get onto that, but that site is pretty 'broad' , Tempa under breaks & the Rephlex comps listed as D&B, it wouldn't be so bad searching em all if it wasn't one big vertical list with no GFX or samples and it didn't make me a coffee or offer to paint my house either

Easy mate, what im getting at is if you ask your record shop to get in contact with these guys they should be able to import stuff in for you and sell it to your store, the more people that do ask there stores will help the scene out there massively.

Inertia only distribute Soulja, Tempa, Rephlex and Planet Mu as far as this music goes. I've spoken to them about taking on more, but so far it's an uphill battle with those guys. If their distro in the UK (SRD I think) doesn't handle it, they're not interested. I'll keep you posted if things change though.

In Melbourne though, speak to Lynt at DMC Records. He knows his stuff and sources tunes that aren't handled by Australian distributors. Also might be an idea to speak to Lady Erica in Melbourne for some local knowledge. She has a show on 3RRR on Saturday nights.

I somehow found Wonder's What/Asia, Tempa Allstars Vol 1, Fat Larry's Skank, Dub Express/The March/Conga Therapy, and Big Apple 4 and 5, all for $4 in the used bin here. WTF???

I have no idea how to find dubstep in Australia, though so i guess this isn't helping much.

dmc beats (near the corner of commercial rd and chapel st, prahran -- walk through the normal part of dmc through to the back, staffed by lynt and joe seven, safe) stocks breaks, dnb, and dubstep. unfortunately the dubstep quota is quite small (not their fault, it's just hard to get heaps of dubstep into melbourne), so keep watching melbournebeats.com's forum for the new arrivals thread: they post as soon as a shipment lands.

totally off topic I know, but I have been watching Melbourne drama 'The Secret Life of Us' avidly ever since it's been shown in the UK. They stopped showing it about 2 or 3 years ago but I've just spent a lot of money getting the 3rd series on DVD and although the critics have panned this series as the one where things start to go downhill, I fucking love it.

Question is, is the show representative of what melbourne is really like, or is it in actual fact a bit of a slum like most other cities. Cos life seems to be too good to be true in that programme. Is it a case that St Kilda is the best area in town and far exceeds the other ones?

Those kids never left St Kilda, NEVER.

Parts of St Kilda are Junkie ridden red light districts so no, I dont think SLOU is a very good indication of Melbs

for a relativley small city, Melbourne is fucking great. Most Melbournites love the place. Never watched Seret Life though. I imagine compared to most citys around the world this day inage, Melbourne is far from a slum.
