hey whats up guys. i have been having a serious problem with audacity not recognizing the lame library on my computer. i cant encode mp3s in audacity without it. does anyone know of any glitches in the program like this? or a way to get around it? could someone recommend a different free mp3 encoder? im using an old mac g4 tower running osx 10.4.10 and version 1.2.6 of audacity. the version of lamelib that i have is 3.91. i have a few tracks that i need to put online and a 67mb .wav just wont work.

dont have a mac so can't give specific advice, but have you told audacity where the lame codec is? if you have try deleting and redownloading the Lame codec, if that doesnt help try uninstalling audacity then reinstalling it, then when you 1st try to save an MP3 it will ask you where the Lame codec is or prompt you to download it (the PC version does anyway)
hope this helps!

Yeah, I would say try to find the other one, delete it, re-download and move it to the proper folder (somewhere in the library folder, but I dont remember for sure... its on the audacity site somewhere).

I use it, on a mac with no probs... also, when you install the lame lib, there is a way to make iTunes use it too instead of the poor sounding apple mp3 codec. Should be on the audacity page somewhere... Im away from my mac, but if you cant figure it out hit me with a pm and Ill check how/where mine is setup.

google 'LAME audacity wikipedia', theres a link on Wikipedia for the download, choose the mac one... then just put the lame file on your desktop (or wherever) then when you go to encode an MP3 itl ask for it, then just locate it for Audacity
