Not bad, sounds like some old Underworld live stuff, seems to have more of an uplifting house dynamic to it though (has quite an epic feel to it, whereas dubstep generally is a bit more understated).

Not mad keen on the lead synth, and the bass seems to be a bit lost under it all, could do with a bit more space I think and work on getting that bass more upfront. Depends what you're trying to do I suppose, I'm not too sure whether this is strictly dubstep (whatever that means now).

with this piece i suppose it was in one way "dubstep" because of the half time rhythm underneath the faster one. but yeh, as for the melody and stuff i just gotta make what i feel..
one thing i find limiting about the genre is how it orientates alot around chromatic melodies..
working on the bassline is something i definetly need to work on though now u come to mention it

Man, definitely do what you feel, that's what compositions all about isn't it. Be a bit odd to write stuff that someone else felt.

Not too sure if a half-step rhythm in itself makes it dubstep (but then the definitions do get a bit loose on this). I think chromatic melodies don't necessarily have to be limiting as the bog-standard semitone bassline beloved of dnb/grime/dubstep isn't the be-all and end all. Jazz is mostly chromatic and passing notes and I hardly think that's limited as a form. At the end of the day it's more notes to play with innit

Dubstep or not, really liked it.
Deep stuff, can see a lot of influences in your sound.
Send it to some labels I would definitely buy it.
