Dried isopropyl on records, help!

I cleaned some vinyl records with a solution of isopropyl alcohol and distilled water, mixed in a glass container. The records weren't particurlarly grimy so instead of using the recommended ratio of one third isopropyl, two thirds water I just used a lot less isopropyl.
I then proceeded to spread it on the records with a microfibre cloth, in circular motion, not applying pressure. After that, I left them to dry on a towel, laying flat (didn't dry them :7: ) Now they have light crackle, evenly audible all along the record on both sides. I washed them again with a solution of recommended strenght and tried showering them with lots of tap water. Neither had any effect on the state of the record.

So what's there to attempt? Could some chemical counteract this or is hot water an option?

Never, uneven heat will warp records.

I'm no expect though and i don't know what Isopropyl is. It sounds like an energy drink to me.

Maybe your problem is static electricity?

The alcohol should have evaporated anyway, and washing with distilled water would certainly do the trick. You can use warm (not hot) water and a little non harsh detergent (Ecover works OK, but fuck Group 4 ;)). Always rinse.

Sounds like you did the right sort of thing though.

Don't know that much about records, but using less isopropyl alcohol and more water would've been a less harsh solution than using the recommended amount. In any case, IPA shouldn't kill records.

I'd say it's more likely a case of static, try a different type of cloth. Some cloths result in more static than others.

wtf, I just use a little bit of methylated spirit on a tissue. Is that bad? Never had any problems.
