you cant use them in reason alone, it has to be rewired to something. i rewire mine to live 7

Nope you'll have to rewire. Reaper is a cheap one if you need a DAW what supports VSTs

Reasons Combinator is fucking immense though, I hardly rewire reason when I use it now.

this is why reason remains pretty much the most stable DAW going

if youve just started with it and dont know much about it, i sugest you go to your nearest wh smiths and get a copy of this...

whole issue dedicated to reason, plenty of advanced techniques an shit. itll be in store for a while aswell as this focus mag only comes out every 3 months i think

drums on fruityloops sound good compared to reason I rewired them both up subtractor is heavy for bass but still I don't like the way it works guess I'll have too make a separate track for drums then .WAv into reason :?

forget reasons soundbanks for starters, unless you really want to work hard on your drums. just import your cleanest stuff into reason from elsewhere

reason uses rtas, as part of the pro-tools package. but you've got to purchase the sdk to make it work. in the meantime, you should wrap it in energyxt and rewire through battlefield 2 to the output of an old copy of suse linux.

good luck!

Except it's not a DAW. A DAW is a Digital Audio Workstation, which means software that allows you to work with directly with audio content - Record it, cut it apart, move it and edit it in the arrange window.

Reason doesn't allow you to do this, so it's not a DAW.

DAW and Sequencer are not interchangeable names.

yes my mistake, i am something of a beginner myself and still obviously have alot to learn. i read a recent interview from one of the main men at propellerheads the other day which stated vst support is something they wont be considering for future reason releases

Nope. Rewire to FL.

Once it's rewired use FL sequencer and mixer for midi into and audio out of reason.

There is a section in FL help file on how to do this.. (well there was in FL6 help file).

any problems hit me up on msn, one of those "easy when you know how " techniques.

lol 8)

I think technically, Reason is a Virtual Studio Rack with sequencer... Ie, all the big fuss about the ability to wire the units up how you like in complex ways etc...
